Jeep's Extended Warranty

I'll be picking up my GC Overland next week from my dealer and, since this is my 1st Jeep, I'd like to hear from anyone who's bought an extended warranty.

Most interested in the actual cost and whether the warranty is from Jeep (or just sold by them).

All comments, good, bad, or just opinions are welcomed.

Thanx in advance.

You can get the Lifetime Max Care (wouldn't get anything less then max) for about $1800 without too much trouble. If dealer wont give it to you at that price there are a couple places online and you have 12/12000 miles to get the lowest price.

Went on line ready to buy an extended warranty - visited our dealer today for a service and mentioned I was in the market. Shared with them the price I got and they matched it. They are one of the best. Hoblit (Grady) in Woodland CA. We have purchased 3 units - 1 Ram and 2 Jeeps from them. We went with the 7/100K (Max Care) - the lifetime was OK except it is non - transferable and I'm gussing I'll be looking to upgrade some point in the future. With the 7/100 it is trasferable to a new owner - a big deal when selling a used car,

Yeah I thought about that too... Still second guess myself but the month the jeep is paid off my oldest daughter turns 16 and i'll always have a need to tow stuff. Hopefully this will be the first vehicle I keep a long time (think the longest so far has been just under 5 years, but typically 2-3). Shooting for 10 years with the jeep.

Many thanks to all that replied.

Could you share cost for your purchase?

I paid $15XX for lifetime max care/$100 deductable (Don't remember exactly, i think 1565).

But apparently its not lifetime (from the jeep owners website):
Description NEW MAXIMUM CARE (FOR VEHICLES WITH 5/100 WARRANTY)
Expires on 2093-11-03 or 999999 miles
Start Date 2010-08-04
Deductible Per Repair $100.00

I got a 7 YR / 100K warranty through Jeep, it cost me $1,700. The dealer also threw in a seperate 5 year MultiShield protection package, it covers scratches and dings to the exterior paint and rims, covers accidental damage on the leather and interior, and gives windshield replacement if needed. That was normally $500.00

I also want to say, I originally was not going to buy an extended warranty, so the dealer lowered my interest rate, and saved me $1900 over the course of 7 years, but would only do so if I bought the warranty. In the end, the warranty actually saved me $200 off the total price of the jeep, and my monthly payments went down slightly.

I had the dealer swear to me that the extended warranty was an extension of the factory warranty, not some third party company that takes over when the factory one expires. They promised me it was an extension of the factory one and covered everything that was originally covered, including the air suspension. I questioned why it was called AutoXtend, and they said that is the name of the company that handles all of Jeeps factory warranties.

Did anyone else get the AutoXtend documents about their warranty?

It was Hoblit in Woodland. I'm pretty sure we got the deal because our family has purchased 7 cars and trucks there. Not sure Grady would do the same for someone who had not purchased from him.

I just got a sales receipt receipt from the dealer.

With in an hour I saw the coverage on the owner portal at Jeep.com. Not to be a bearer of bad news but I think this is an after market warranty. Go to the jeep.com web site and create your owners account under "for owners". If the warranty appears under your vin you've got a factory service contract.
if not - they lied.

As far as I know Chrysler handles all of their own extended contracts.

You should be able to cancel and then buy a Chrysler MaxCare service contract.

Hope this helps.

I just bought my Overland. The dealer asked me if I wanted the Max Care warranty. His price is $2400.
He also said that if I never use this policy, after the 7 years is up I get back $2350.
Does this warranty sound correct? It seems to good to be true.....

Also just bought an Overland. I chose the 7yr/85K mile Chrysler Max Care and got it for $1499. I chose the 3 year no interest payment plan. I get billed monthly and I can pay the balance off anytime and it didn't require a penny down.
