WE are having this issue as well but with the RB2 radios (for export markets) w/o NAV system.

I made it work twice but later in the same Jeep won't work the songs for unknown reason with the iPod (yes, is updated to the latest software)

There is a kind of TSB that describes the following (I'm ordering this cable to see if it will fix it).

Quote:
Issue Description:
If the customer tries to install the iPod jumper and it won't lock into the iPod outlet; or the iPod outlet/bezel pushes into the I/P; replace the iPod Bezel located in the I/P "cubby" bin.

Note: replacement procedure is the same as the PEM replacement with the addition of removing the iPod bezel from the "cubby" bin.

Replacement Procedure:

Release the two latches on the bezel inside the bin.

Push the bezel out.

Release the wiring connector from the bezel; see latch, push latch up.

Check the p/n on the back of the bezel; if the p/n ends in "AA" or "AB" replace with an "AC". P/N 68078527AC is the latest level.

Install new bezel into the "cubby" bin; you should hear two clicks, if not use a small screwdriver or flat stick to push the latch or latches into place. Verify that the bezel is locked into place.

Install the wiring connector back into the new bezel; there should be a click once it locks into place. Pull on the wiring to verify that the connector is locked into place.

It does work flawlessly when connected to the supplied Ipod cable in the center dash pocket...my only complaint is the wire is thick and short so when its cold out it makes it really difficult to put the Ipod in the cup holder or pocket.
Which radio do you have? The 430 does not come with a cable. We are now up to 3 pages in the forum. I'm hoping that Jeep is now paying attention regarding this issue. The subject is getting old.....

Someone posted a link to a page which listed all the radios with specs on this site or maybe it was another site I was on. It stated that there is a new version of the 730 coming out soon. I think this newer model will have all the required electronics to handle the use of portable devices.

I have the 730 (RER) with uConnect...and is there any way to make the dealer upgrade me to the new version when it comes out? Probably not, but that would be sweet!

I gave the dealer the url to this thread - seems Jeep is very quiet about this problem - but it is for sure a problem. It really has gone on too long with out any kind of word on what they plan to do.

Has anyone with problems tried calling UConnect customer support at 1-877-855-8400?

I did, they tried to tell me that I should use the AUX input / cable - yet all the info in the manuals state that the i-phone 4 will work via the usb in the center console.

Our iPhone 4 and 3GS with 4.2 both work fine but the new iPod Nano doesn't.

Just got my new Jeep GC today with the 430 (I think), and this problem (with my iPod touch) was the first thing I noticed. After plugging it in about 8 times, it finally worked, until I turned the car off. No luck since. It is so annoying! Soooo...I am taking someones advice and loading all my iTunes onto the HDD. May take forever, but if you upgrade all your stuff to iTunes plus, it will play thought HDD. BTW...my iPod did work through Bluetooth as well, but of course with no playlist functionality. Terrible sound through both USB (when it worked) and BT.

Do a Google search for uconnect and ipod compatability. There's a pdf out there that lists which ipods are compatible at this time.

My ipod nano touch gives me the connection error but my older ipod nano works fine

I have had connection errors with both my 2011 Grand Cherokee and now with a new 2013 GC. When first got the new GC, the iphone connection via the USB port in arm console worked fine. But stopped working after I loaded a CD onto the HDD. Deleted all the music files off the HDD and now the iphone connects fine again. I think there is a conflict between the HDD and the iphone connecting. Had I known this with the 2011 GC.....! I am sure this is the cause of the connection problems although its not an empirical experiment! Anyone else found this solution works?
