Increased MPG after dealership flashed VCM & TCM

Hey Guys,

Does anyone else get better MPGs after a dealer flash of the VCM, PCM, & TCM. I brought it in for an oil change and 52 pt inspection before a long trip and they let me know they did a bunch of software updates and on the trip I averaged 19-20mpg city and 26-27 highway.

I used to get 16-18 mpg city and 22-24 highway. I'm not complaining but just seeing if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Only thing I've ever noticed is a few new scratches and a greasy fingerprints on my headliner near the dumb *** oil change sticker they put on my windshield. They know the WK2 has a built in computer aided reminder but I still get a sticker that says 3000 miles or 3 months.

What year and engine combo are you driving. Enjoy the gains.

Most of the transmission learned parameters get erased during a reflash. From what I've read here, any mpg gains or losses will slowly erode as it re-learns your driving style... unless you also change your driving style Usually the mpg takes a dip for awhile, however. Not often do you hear of increases.

I was looking at that as well, which I could associate with a +/- 3mpg change not as much as I've been seeing.

I'll see if it changes at all after the re-flash.

Definitely getting better MPG the past couple of weeks over a month ago. Probably the summer winter mix change.

I'll probably chalk it up to that. Either way, it's 3-5 mpg better and I'm not going to jinx it haha.

I had mine done a few weeks back and my diesel has lost some of the lag. It's definiately more responsive.

You're lucky. Last time I brought my jeep to the dealer for service I got it back with nothing fixed, about 50 miles tacked on, my seats reclined hood style and the interior smelling like lunch.

Yeah the real $&@tty thing was that one of the issues I had already gotten diagnosed from a dealership in TX, who had supposedly ordered parts but never did. So I brought all the paperwork to the dealership here to which they responded that they wouldn't order parts based off of some other dealerships paperwork. Fair enough right? So I took the service guy on a drive on which he identified the problems and reported them to the service manager who was standing in front of me when he heard the news.

When I picked up my vehicle he informed me that nothing had been fixed because they "couldn't find the problem." But they definitely could find my keys to take my vehicle on a joy ride.
