How long does it take to build?

Ordered 2014 JGC Limited (3.6 L, black/black) on 11/30/13. Dealer called 01/06/14 to say car delivered. The sticker inside the door indicates a build date of 01/14. Do I understand this correctly that the Jeep was built and delivered within some five days? Is the 01/14 the actual build date? Final assembly date? Delivery date? Has anyone followed their jeep through the assembly line? How long does it take to actually build? Looking forward to the Forum's ideas on this. (Jeep just ticked over 3K miles and running beautifully).

Takes about 1 day to build. Door sticker is correct. I followed the process very closely with mine. Built April 6th, took delivery April 13th. The build day is on the door sticker too, just don't remember exactly where. The 1/14 is January 2014.

Yeah 1/14 just means sometime in Jan, the door sticker also has the day and time, used to be stamped in the lower right. The sticker gets glued on during the build process, which takes maybe a day. Depending on location, it can take anywhere from a day to a week to get from the production line to the dealer, sometimes two weeks.

It's only 200mi from Detroit to Dublin. Probably went by truck. It took over a week for my last Jeep to get to Texas, as it went by rail.

Sounds right - ours went from waiting for production to inspection for delivery over the space of a weekend.

Very much appreciate all replies. So most of that 5 1/2 weeks was waiting for production to begin. I'm still amazed how quickly these can be built. Very pleased with quality, especially interior. Just as nice as buddy's BMW X5.

This thread gives me hope. My Summit has been sitting in D1 status since 3/6 with an estimated delivery date of 4/4. Now that I know it can be built in as fast as 1 day, I feel a little more confident that I might get it in time.

I ordered my black limited in early february. Never got updates on the build process. Only when it was supposedly shipped. Problem is that i had an estimated ship date of 3/11 from my dealer. A confirmed ship date of 3/17 from Jeep and a second confirmed ship date of 3/21 from Jeep. So i have no idea when it was actually shipped and when it will arrive.

We ordered ours on 2/1/14 and it arrived at the dealership this last Thursday 3/20/14. Total of 7 weeks. I'm sure living 1200 miles from where it was built contributed to the long shipment time.
