HELP! Navigation / GPS / Clock

I'm desperately hoping someone can please help give some advice. I have a 2014 JGC Limited and for the past year have been experiencing serious issues where the Navigation looses my location. It shows me driving down roads that im not, across water, etc. At the same time, the clock, which is synched with GPS, does not show the correct time (often hours away from the real time).

I had the radio / nav unit replaced 3 separate times. Each time its replaced it seems to work for a short while then the same problem re-appears. Most recently they replaced the GPS antenna. This corrected the problem for a few days but again its back.

From what I can tell, it seems that when its working and I park the car and leave it for a bit (go into a store etc) and return to the car, start it, and drive away, that it holds that last location and never seems to update it. Its very sporadic. If I reboot the radio (hold the volume and tune buttons down) it corrects the location 50% of the time. I tried disconnecting the battery, and 50% of the time it corrects it.

I'm totally at a loss of what to do. At any given time If I go to the navigation screen and click on the map there is at least a 50% chance it will not work and or my clock will stop working. I also get "Vehicle Phone requires service". I am running the latest software.

My warranty is up in 1 month and im extra worried because despite bringing the Jeep to the dealer multiple times, 3 new radios, a new GPS antenna, nothing at all seems to be correcting the problem.

I even called Jeep to complain but no one seems to be helping. I don't know what else to do? Lawyer? Im all out of options.

PLEASE HELP!

That sucks - we are on our second head unit now - better but still freezes occasionally.

You can check your state's lemon laws. There is something amiss in your vehicle, either radio or wire harness (bad grounds can do strange things). So if your radio is busy responding to a noisy CAN bus, it doesn't have any time for anything else.

You could try a different dealer, one the has more radio experience. You could also ask an outfit like Navrepair.com what they think.

Just throwing ideas out there. Beside being persistent with FCA and the dealer, not much else besides sending a PM to member jeepcares.

Hi JasonJJC--if you wanted to send me your VIN, I can make an inquiry with our technical team to see if there is something else the dealership can do to diagnose the issue.

**Update**

I Called Corporate and was told that they are aware of the issue and that a "fix" would be issued possibly in October at which point they would push it over the airwaves.

Since I highly doubt this story, I brought the Jeep back to the dealer for the 5th time. This time they reflashed the radio, however they gave the Jeep (HEAP) back to me with the headliner falling down (presumably from trying to access the antenna), the gear shifter scratched, the belzle around the radio misaligned and causing the air vent to be non functional, the compartment infront of the gear shifter scratched, and the plastic to the left of the gear shifter scratched.

Needless to say I would not accept the Jeep back in that condition and it remains at the dealer until they fix all the damage they caused.

I'm sorry to say, as a very long time jeep owner ( and many may disagree) but Jeep as a whole is crap. The quality is just awful and the vast majority of the dealers are just as bad as the quality of the vehicles. While there may be many who do not experience issues, there are more who do and just live with it because at the end of the day there unfortunately isn't much Jeep is going to do. I personally have many friends with a Jeep Grand Cheroke (multiple years) and they all have problems with electronics, transmissions, etc. Its the same story over and over. This is the last Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ram vehicle I will ever buy and I urge all to consider the same. Their vehicles "look" great, but the build quality, attention to detail, and dealer network are just abysmal. If enough people stop purchasing their products they may be forced to change and start to release quality vehicles. Remember, Quantity (just because everyone has one) does not mean its quality.

Just my thoughts ....

**Update #2**

Dealer called and car is ready but when they went to test drive it one last time, the clock is off again and the navigaton is lost again. They have ordered radio #5. As soon as it arrives and is installed- the Jeep is for sale. I have officially given up with Chrysler products.
