Hard starting

Anyone have this issue? Once in a while when you engage the ignition button, it turns over for 5-6 seconds but never starts. After another attempt it starts. Took it in today to get the pressure checked on the fuel pump. Just wondering if it could be something else........

My mechanic said there was a TSB concerning the issue and installed a software update. So far it hasn't happened since however he mentioned that the TSB made clear it improves the issue however it's not 100%. The good news, the re-flash was also suppose to fix numerous other things like upshifting, downshifting, and a host of others. So far the Jeep does seem drive better and a lot smoother......

I've had a hard starting issue of a different fashion. I hear a thud or thump when my JGC starts in the morning.

My wife was just telling me about this issue today i will have to check with my dealer about the reflash. I wonder since we are out of warranty if a reflash will cost me anything

Mine had the following problems - rough idle, stalls, will not start. The TIPM was replaced today after a 3 week wait. Seems to idle better - not perfect but no longer like it is about to stall. I wrote an email to the Jeep CEO and managed to move to the top of the list. From what I'm hearing a 3 week wait is pretty good - Ha Ha. Now for the bad news, of the 700 or so built all are allocated. More bad news the dealer mentioned that the 2012's are now doing it. There was a 2012 sitting there in the service lane running. They were afraid to turn it off as the owner wanted to drive it home. I held the steering wheel and it had that nice almost mis fire feel while at idle. I smells RECALL as this is pretty bad stuff. As in Jeep dies in the middle of no where. The light mis idle is the start of the problem. Just an FYI I replaced the plugs - all 16 and it made no difference -the rough idle stayed till today after the new TIPM install.

Same thing has started happening with mine, cranks for maybe 10 seconds no start. wait about 5 seconds and it ussually starts right up. Going to ask if the dealer has performed any of the TSB's listed below. I just got it back from the shop for a software update after the transmission defaulted to 4th gear and I had to limp it home.

FYI, the TSB I had loaded stated that it's not 100% effective in fixing the hard start. And guess what, it's not! May have fixed some other issues like shifting and stuff however this morning it was another hard start. Started right up the second time. We have some other threads going with the same issue so hopefully we can figure it out sooner than later and it sounds like the 2012's are doing the same thing.

Had this same problem. It was random, and usually when cold. The engine would crank, but never start. If I waited a few minutes and tried again, it would start.

I had a bad Wireless Ignition Module, part number 5026535AJ. See http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f309/...oblem-1553114/
