Wk GPS Antenna

I am getting my Jeep GC '14 tinted from VKool and they use metallic films. Can someone tell me if it will affect the GPS connectivity? I am told that GC '13 has this problem.

Is the antenna outside for '14 (on the top) or inside the car?

The factory GPS and sat antennas are in the base of the external antenna on the roof. Dealer or add-ons typically have the GBS antenna under the dash near where the center speaker is.

Getting back to my bending question on the other thread . I would lose my navagation also if I just disconnect the antenna ?

Could you or anyone here point me to somewhere that sells a stubby antenna ?
Are they easy to put on ?

No, the stubby only effects AM and FM, its just a wire wound around a flexible rubber form.

I bought a mangowalk 5" stubby for the KK off ebay. Some of them are universal fit in that they have a couple fittings to fit a wide variety of vehicles.

Well it looks like the stubbys are still 4 1/2 " .
Shark fin would be lower profile unless there is a " shorter" stubby version ?

I bought the stubby. Not as low profile as the shark antenna, but better than OEM. So far so good

1 1/2 and 3 inch stubbies are available in rubber, some are cut to fit.. all these have less effective AM/FM reception. Not sure off hand what the thread size is for the WK2. Most stubs are sold by thread size, or have adapters.

The shark fin is lower, I think it sticks 2 1/2 to 3 inches above the roof line.

Here's a pic of the Shark Fin antenna. It's pretty low profile compared to the alternatives, and is about 1/2" taller than the stock antenna base without the mast attached.

BTW, AM/FM reception is very good with this antenna...at least equal to that with the OEM antenna.
