I also want to add, in case anyone wonders, I have taken many gun safety courses and have my CCW so I am a responsible gun owner, not just someone who buys guns in fear.

Ditto. I have been carrying for 5 years once I was able to legally carry. Just got my renewal CHL in 2 days ago. Also a peace officer in Texas waiting to get hired with a LE agency. I have always been pro-gun.

I'm a L.E.O. And I've many many times seen bad things happen to good people. In Illinois we have the strictest gun laws in the country. I would not have a problem with law abiding citizens that have been trained properly carrying a concealed weapon. I don't care what neighborhood you live. If you think you are safe from being in harms way you are nieve are in more danger than somebody who is aware that anything can happen anywhere.

Mass CCW permit holder for over 17 years now.. I carry when I can...never had to even think about drawing weapon....I have been trained to assess and draw if necessary..... I'm on belief that Mass has the most strict laws from preventing the honest citizen from obtaining a ccw... Luckily I received mine...... Mine stays on my person in the small of my back...... Even " printing" in mass seems to be frowned upon...so I go extra steps to make sure no one knows I am armed......

Illinois doesn't even allow CCW for civilians at all. It's even hard for law enforcement agencies to get weapons that are class 3. It's brutal here.

To the OP, keep your gun on you at all times if you are a CCW permit holder. Never leave it in a vehicle unattended because IF you are broken into and your gun is stolen and used in a crime, you'll have a lot of explaining to do and a huge legal bill. As Mojo51 stated, we have the among strictest (and dumbest) gun laws in the USA. In IL, we have a FOID card (Firearm Owners ID) that can only be obtained by law-abiding citizens whom pass a background check.. Sounds good, right? The criminals don't give a rat's *** about laws so....if a law-abiding citizen is caught with just ONE unused bullet in their possession, much less a gun itself, they are prosecuted as a felon. IF a FOID cardholder walks out of the house with a bullet ---zzzzzzttttttt --- they can be prosecuted as a felon for unlawful weapons charges even though they just forgot the card in the house. Stupid law that only makes it easy to arrest law-abiding citizens. It gets better! In IL, if you as a FOID cardholder leave all your guns and ammo at home like the state wants you to, when your wife comes home (she never bothered to get a FOID and doesn't care abut guns) she can now be charged as a felon for unlawful weapons possession in her own home IF she lets Mr. local police officer stop by for coffee and he sees ANY ammo or firearms present. And the news at 10 is: "Local resident arrested for unlawful possession of weapons..." while the neighbors think "Oh dear, she seemed like such a nice person I had no idea she was a gun toting lunatic."

Sorry about going OT, but it's relevant. As firearm owners we have to protect that firearm from getting into that hands of those who should not have them. I don't mean our spouses, but I mean criminals and kids. Rant over.

This is coming from a guy with a WK. I am not sure if the WK2 has anything similar but this is what I do....

The knee bolster under my steering column flips down to access the fuse panel. I was able to bolt in a soft nylon holster (bought it from wal-mart, it is actually used for airsoft guns) that fits my Glock 19 just perfectly and keeps it very secure. I am able to draw very quickly from a seated, belted position. Also, though I don't keep the gun in there overnight, I feel comfortable with it in that area while parked because if someone did break into my car, there is no way they would think to look there. You really can't tell it is an access panel unless you have had a reason to open it before.

I can snap a picture of it when I get home. Again, I don't know if there is a similar setup on a WK2, but it is worth looking at because it seems to work well.

EDIT:

This is 100% true. Though I feel comfortable with the gun not being found in the area mentioned above, a firearm really should not be left in a vehicle. I only mention it above because sometimes it is unavoidable when you are carrying and have to go into a posted gun-free zone.

I took out my stock speaker bar an built a custom bar with lockable gun storage built in.
There are some places when you get out of your vehicle you can't carry a gun into, so you have to leave it behind.

Maybe Jeep should offer an option for a lockable compartment near the driver position for a handgun...it sounds like there is a demand for something like that based on this thread.

While it would be kinda cool if they did, I just can't see any auto manufacturer offering something like this and billing it as "lockable weapons storage". Tuffy offers a lockable console that is hard to break into, but they don't advertise it as a place to hide/store your CCW. I have also seen (on this site) a lockable storage box that is bolted in with the front bolts of the driver's seat that is specifically made for pistol storage, but they call it auxillary storage or something, not gun storage.
The liberals would be all over any car company that sold cars with purpose specific storage for a CCW.

Did you see this paragraph, it's not an isolated incident, do we really require concealed weapons?

The shooting follows the death of the 7-year-old daughter of a Marysville police officer in Stanwood on Saturday when a sibling found a gun and fired while the parents were out of their car. And on Feb. 22, an 8-year-old girl was critically wounded in a Bremerton classroom when a gun fired inside the backpack of a 9-year-old boy as he put it on a desk.

And all of those incidents involved adults handling their firearms negligently.

I live in the DC Metro area (in MD).. I always though DC had the worst Gun laws... as in you could just not own one. Even Federal Law Enforcement based in DC, unless they were FBI, had to lock their weapons in glove box safes provided for them, during transit to and from their offices. (In this case I am talking specifically about IG types who I worked with, who were carrying their weapons while inside the office buildings, or outside DC city lines, but never in DC proper unless they were making an arrest). This was of course around 5 years ago.
