Kinda vague ya!.

I expected a bit more from a Detroit rag.

Media nowadays I guess.

Depends on who's looking at what facts and finds. I don't have much confidence in Consumer Reports anymore or any other media information for that matter.

I notice it only applies to the diesels. I have to admit, all the diesels we have at work that are newer with the DEF and exhaust regeneration are always in the shop.

What can be expected out of the first year?

Several years ago I had a MB GL450 and it was rated in the top 6 as well. Drove it for 7 years and never had a single problem. I take these reports with a grain of salt.

I subscribe to consumer reports and have owned several vehicles that they said had problems. One proved true to what they said, the others, not so much. Most folks take it personal when their particular vehicle falls short in CR's reviews. What folks forget is that CR is a guide and a tool if you choose to use it. It's a guide folks, not a bible. CR saved my bacon once when I bought a washer and found out after I bought it that their test model broke a couple of times. It was a new technology at that time. I bought the extended warranty on that and used it big time 3 or 4 times for huge $ repairs. Btw, no extended warranty on my JGC, and no problems still after 20,000 mi. I typically never buy extended warranties for anything period. People take it way too personal when their whip ends up with poor ratings and then want to shoot the messenger.

Consumer Report mostly bases reliability from the annual survey it send to its subscribers.

CR is speaking to the ecodiesel exhaust system and the failures.

It's amazing how Jeep makes it near the top of three lists, recalls, reliability, and value held after five years.

I would be pretty cautious owning any Chrysler Diesel.

The issue is not a Chrysler issue ..... It is a common industry issue with the required environmental equipment meet emissions standards . All the manufactures are struggling to have long term reliability this add on stuff .

I'd love to own a Jeep or Ram diesel but am not a fan of DEF system. Therefore, I'll stick with the Hemi in my 13 Ram and 3.6 in my 14 G.C.
