GC at the drive in

Hey all,

I went to the drive in a few weeks ago with the GC. It's terrific for that with one exception. At the drive in movie theater you use the stereo in the vehicle for the movie sound.

Since it's push button start I haven't figured out how to keep the radio on indefinitely with the engine off. I was able to get it to stay on for about 30 minutes at a time, but it's rather annoying to have to climb into the front of the vehicle and push the start button to 'Acc' so it goes on again for 30 more minutes.

Does anyone here know how to keep the radio on indefinitely?

Thanks.

AFAIK, you have to do the dance every 30 minutes...the system is designed to keep you from running down the battery by accident.

I think there is a setting in the EVIC that you can change up to 45 minutes, I have a 2011.

We actually parked the jeep backwards (all SUV and truck owners do this at the drive in) and put the gate up and sat in the way back with pillows and stuff.

Some bring along a portable FM radio and don't use the car radio for one reason or another.

So weird that this came up. I'm literally sitting at a drive-in right now waiting for the movie to start! I'm looking through the EVIC and I'm not seeing any option to change it. We face forward though, so it's only mildly annoying. Wish I could though. '14 Laredo BTW. .

Why wouldn't you press the button once quickly (no foot on brake) to put the ignition into ACC mode?

You do use ACC, the problem (or inconvenience) is that it automatically cuts off after a certain amount of time.

Also, the 14s don't use the same button/switch as previous years. You can't pop it off because there isn't a keyed switch under it.

I'm pretty sure that the 11s don't have a way to pop off the start button and put the key in either.

Why do you prefer to use the "key" instead of the push to start?

just personal preference. having always driven a keyed car just pushing a button feels unnatural to me. old school i guess.
