D'Amore Engineering's SEMA show WK2 33s on 20s

Hey guys, just wanted to share a few pics of the 2013 Grand Cherokee we are building for the SEMA show this year. We just started doing mods to it, and will be done with it in a few months. But for now here are some photos of what has been done to it thus far.

We are an aftermarket high end audio company and will be using this vehicle to demo our gear at SEMA. As such the interior mods will start next month and I'll update this thread as we progress.

Thanks for looking

OK...why 20s? Why?

boyvan 06-24-2013 08:03 PM

Very nice. Definitely like the wheels :)

i like it a lot, except for the rims that probably should go on a Wrangler.

Good looking ride!

2013?

Why not a 2014? And I will also ask why 20"s with a lift? No rock rails????

morty00 06-25-2013 06:56 AM

Looks bad ***

according to the OP this was done for a show vehicle, so my guesses:

- 13's look nicer than '14's
- for show not off road so no rock rails or 18's

I like it.. but can you turn the wheels? Are the front wheel well liners butchered?

Obviously you're not the OP but then why mud/offroad tires on it? The 20s make no sense with the M/Ts and the lift. Would have looked better dropped, with 20s wrapped in a nice street tire.

I would like to see what the wheel wells look like. Pinch weld taken care of?

I guess means that this GC is a first class mall crawler with its noisy MTs. Lift kit and MTS make no sense with 20" wheels. Obviously this company doesnt have a clue and is like many others for poseurs. Reminds me of the company located in NYC area that had a reality show. Poseur vehicles with so called great sound systems for sitting and looking pretty.

I dont know why everyone is getting so snarky, they did it for looks, as they stated from the get go. I think they did a great job overall. It would not be what I would do for mine but I also dont see anything wrong with what they did for their purposes.

It is a show ride as they said

To each their own I suppose.

as far as 'mall crawler' and 'posuers' (sp) get over yourself

Well, it's hate central in here, but I think it looks good. I'm happy to see some companies using the WK2 as their demo vehicle.

I like how it's blacked out. How did the plastidip smoke work for ya?

Jackal01 06-25-2013 09:28 AM

A few of us have done the plasti dip on the front and rear chrome. I have redone the front within the past 16 months and the rear has still held up well.

I am not hating on the Jeep. I have yet to understand why, on a show vehicle, would someone make modifications that would not otherwise be used in the field? Yea...it LOOKS pretty but what is the point in showing off when it isn't going to be practical? Why have mud tires on a street wheel? And I assume the lift was only to make room for the 33x20s? If so...that would never work going offroad. Yea crawling over a stump is cool looking...I guess but nobody in their right mind would take that offroad. They do high end audio systems...not offroad modifications. The GC would have looked so much better if they took more towards the SRT8 route with 20s, no lift, dropped an inch or two, etc. Dave is right, it is a mall crawler/poser but then again a lot of Jeeps on the road these days are so what difference does it make...just a waste of money on a nice ride. :cheers2:

In general, you provide excellent info on here and have great posts. In this case IMO you are off base, you are criticizing them for a 'non practical' SHOW car, really? I thought show cars were usually not practical, right? :p
