Cutting plastic bumper cover for Mopar hitch...any suggestions

I ordered the hitch for my 14' limited. Anyone have any tips for cutting the black plastic part of the bumper cover?

Go to harbor freight if you have one and get the Multi tool for $19. Used mine to cut wife's bumper and worked great. I've used it for stuff that if I didn't have one I couldn't have done it.

I found the part number for the black plastic piece...it's only $130 for the one already cut out. I may go that route and avoid the hassle.

Do you mind sharing the part # with the rest of us, to save us a little search time?

I put one on. What worked for me was to drill a series of small holes inside the perimeter of the cutout line (on the inside of the bumper). Used this for the slots as well, just drilled a hole at each end of the slot. I then used a utlilty knife with some new blades, cut a line conneting the holes, then took small short strokes to get up to the line. You do have some room for error.

Hassle?

From my research this looks like one of the simplest parts of the install. Also since the bezel goes well beyond the area you cut it doesn't have to be even close to perfect.

I've seen a few different write ups where a stanley knife was used so it can't be that tough.

I'll be ordering mine today. I can report back in a week or two.

I was only saving a few bucks that was wiped out by shipping at JFJ. Typically I buy from them when I'm around Boston and pick up from their shop.

Forum sponsor http://moparonlineparts.com seems to offer the best deals, but shipping may be significant. They are in the NYC area. Sometimes they offer an additional discount to forum members.

Thanks - I checked with them, and they are slightly more and shipping is twice as much.
