Creaking Rear Spoiler

Now that temps are finally hitting the low 80ies in Michigan, the rear spoiler on my '14 GC creaks continuously. Most noticeable when I'm sitting still, but also at low speed. Can also be heard when standing outside of the vehicle.

Anyone else have this issue?

No spoiler creak yet but my sunroof (pano version) just started creaking when open/close for venting only (the up down motion). Slide back/forward is normal sound.

It sounds like dry bones groaning.

This "sound" like yours Shub45?

Has anyone that has/has had this issue spoken with a dealer about it? What did the dealer say?

^^^^

Curious too as my sunroof creak just started last week. Was going to add it to list when I go in for HVAC TSB, squealing fan blower motor (2nd one) and noisy waterpump.

She's been good other than a few out of box nits. Well, not counting the coolant leak from the timing chain cover.

Nov 6, '13 build and 9k on odo.

Yep. I was lucky that all I needed was the adhesive on the c pillar. They still had the whole headliner taken out but looks as good as new and I am very fussy

K, thanks Shub45, I'll add it to my short list for next visit. Got a good dealer and SA so I am comfortable with the minor surgery as I am a major sunroof guy.

I would be interested to know if anyone has found a solution to this issue (dealer or otherwise) and if it is a well-documented problem. My wife called my attention to this noise about a month ago and it is exactly as i20sailor describes. The vehicle does not have to be moving. It is an expansion/contraction popping or tapping that can be heard when standing behind the vehicle. Also very noticeable when stopped at a light. Thanks

Haha, same problem here - creaking of the rear spoiler or the cargo door. Haven't been able to pinpoint it yet. It definitely seems to happen after the car is out in the heat. I also noticed it after I had my tires rotated one time, like it was affected by being up on a lift.

Haven't told the dealer yet, but plan to on the next visit - still waiting on the brake booster shield from that recall. 2 week ETA has now turned in 4 weeks.

I havnt really tried to find it yet. I'm getting tired of these recalls and little annoyances . Just gonna wait til I really need to go in. Such an inconvenience. I have two recalls hanging on my fridge. Keeps us posted when you find out.

Haven't made it to the dealer since my original post. Planning on it in the next week or 2.

So I'm sitting outside on Lunch listening to it creak and crack. I decide to fold up some thin cardboard and wedge it between the spoiler and glass on one side. Sound is

gone. It must be the double sided tape they use or the spoiler may be touching the glass somewhere.

I figured as much. There needs to be a more OE solution than a piece of cardboard though. I'm hoping Chrysler has a fix before I find one myself.

No creaking here. Honestly this sounds like a warranty issue.
