Can quadra trac I go off-road?

I'm newbie and looking into Laredo base model. Not really want to go off road. Maybe some unpaved road (is that off road?). But still wonder what kind of off road I can go with quadra trac I?

thanks

It's probably great for mud and snow on paved or hard-pack roads, maybe some slightly rougher stuff in drier conditions, but pretty risky beyond that without low range. I certainly wouldn't suggest this:

Off-road, real off-road capability is low range and off-road tires to me. When I had my 1974 Cherokee, we left the pavement and switched to low range, never to shift back until we came back to the road. The first difficult mud bog, the first sand trap, the first rock garden proved the point.

You don't have to be rock crawling mountain goat bent to understand the need for low range tip toeing and the torque multiplying effect low range brings, as you traverse the off road.

Now whether you plan to use it, really go off-road, that's your decision.

BTW, the Jeep film shown of Moab, we did that trail many times. It's spectacular. Yes, low range is required IMHO. And yes I recommend the V-8 for this, off-road, torque is king -- But street tires are out. Blow one out, rocks have their evil ways, like where those Jeeps are shown in the above photos, heap big trouble.

thanks. I wouldn't go off road. Probably unpaved dry road max. I guess quadra trac I is sufficient.

Quadra Trac I is definitely adequate for your needs. Honestly, 2WD is fine so having quadra I is plenty good for you.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it. There are guys with WKs that run 4" lifts with QT that seem to have a good enough time. It will take you places that you wouldn't otherwise thought possible.

QT1 was amazing during our recent snow storms here on the east coast. Just like the '06 XK QT1 I had. Drove thru 10-12in of hard icy snow with no problem. I would never take it offroad other than dirt though.

I have seen 2WD trucks make it farther than 4WD ones before. It all depends on how you drive and what you are going through. I can tell you I have rarely ever had to use low range unless I am stuck. Rock crawling is a difference subject.
