Bad Noise

Need any advise or help. I picked up my Jeep one week ago today and over the weekend it developed an intermittant grinding noise from the front end. Ealier this week, it became so loud I was afraid to drive the GC. I took it in this mrning, told the service writer that I was willing to take one of the tech's for a ride and was told that they weould do it. (I should have insisted.)

They just called and said that they cannot duplicte the noise. Of course.

I looked underneath and from what I could tell, everything looked tight and normal. The noise seems to happen when I simultaneously turn the wheel and accelerate. Like coming out of my subdivision. At times is sounds like metal grinding on metal.

If the GC makes the noise tonight I will take it right back to the dealer. Any suggestions or ideas from anyone? If it helps...I have the Limited 4x4 V6 and Skid Plates........do not have Quadra Lift.

Thanks

I am not all too happy about this. Only driven 70 miles so far.

I would take it back, my JGC had a problem with the heat, wasn't blowing hot air at all went to the Jeep dealer they asked to fix it $900.00 LMAO !!! Went to a private garage $280.00

My wife don't know better,so she got a new key at the Jeep dealer, they charged her $61.00 the same key on eBay was for $17.00.

I guess the money they don't make on sales they try to rob you with the mechanics.

No, just the process: supplier->Chrysler->Jeep->warehouse->distributer->dealer->you. As opposed to supplier->ebay->you. After all someone needs to pay the salaries of all the people in the middle, and the facilities, and the excecutives,and...

Compound the problem when people like lawyers get involved defending against SEMA, people who spill coffee, and others.

It is just the American way and at that be glad you have options and we do not need a MOT sticker or pay VAT.

At least they don't have to pay for health insurance.

The story ends well........but was sort of funny. I picked up the GC and of course the noise started up again. So I decied to go get my salemen and he went for a drive with me. The first thing he said was "you mean to tell me that they didn't hear that noise?" We went back to the service center and with a witness in hand was able to get them to look at it again. It turned out to be a loose heat shield over the front driveshaft that had fallen down. The service manager said that it looked like the factory had not pushed it onto the pins that hold it in place, and once he did in the shop, was confindent it would stay put. I'm just glad that it was something minor.

They just don't want to spend money(time) on under the warranty vehicles.

I sure there's something going on there... Why would they charge me $900.00 to fix my heat, while a private garage did it for $290.00 ?

Yeah they are paid by Chrysler, but Chrysler don't get paid on cars under warranties.
