New to the Jeep world here, just bought a 2013 Grand Cherokee limited. Have a question or really just seeing if anyone can steer me in the right direction. I am about to get roof racks installed (have the side rails already just need the crossbars), however I'm foreseeing an issue with the antenna bending when I throw my kayak or SUP board up there. The antenna is massive and sits directly on the back center of the roof. I was looking into a third party antenna, the stubby or the shark fin. Does anyone have any experience with these or have any recommendations?
My Reality Check Bounced
I use a stubby, lots of folks install sharkfins, there should be discussion thread a few years ago that you may find. The subbies are not as good receiving AM stations, sharkfins seem to work as well as OEM. The removable part of the antenna (mast) only serves FM and AM, so if you don't listen to those you can remove and plug the mast without affecting satellite or GPS reception.

I also have the Stubby. As ColdCase says, they can be dodgy receiving AM, but not too bad. Everything else seems to work as it should
