Another 2014 GC rattle solved.

So, my friend has a 2014 GC limited 4X4 with less than 2K miles, and they've been noticing a rattle, which seemed to emanate from the center of the dash.

I got under the vehicle and started tapping around, and I found the forward most skid plate bolt to be very loose. Interestingly enough, the noise was very loud going very slowly down the road, say < 5 MPH, and would disappear when turning right.

Here is a pic and vid.

Youtube Capture is acting funny, so I'll try to upload the short vid later.

Here is the vid.

One advantage to changing your own oil - checking everything underneath and tightening when needed.

I looked into this on my 2014 GC Limited. The rattling on my GC was not coming from this. Still have not found the what is causing the rattling. My rattle is coming from upper dash somewhere.

Have you checked the sunglass holder?

That rattle used to drive 2011-2012 owners nuts

I've got a rattle when going over certain road bumps coming from the head-liner, right in front of the sun-roof. I can duplicate the noise by tapping the head-liner slightly. Seems like a small amount of foam rubber inserted into the gap up there would probably cure the problem. I hesitate to try to get the dealer to mess with it for obvious reasons, but was wondering if any 2013 GC owners with a sun-roof have the same rattle?

I checked the sunglasses holder. It was not that. I fixed the rattle I heard coming from the driver's side upper dash. The noise is caused by a hose that is not properly attached the firewall in the engine compartment.

Here is a link to the fix, jeep garage. org/f107/2014-v6-rattle-61377-12.html

Remove the spaces in URL and it will work.
