Air bag, just pull fuse

So my wife was adding seat covers to her 2011 GC and tore the wiring on the passenger side head rest which caused the air bag light to come on. We have a new head rest but how can I safely swap it out without causing all the air bags to pop? Can I just pull a fuse or do I need to disconnetc the battery?

It is not sufficient to simply disconnect the battery. If you are worried about air bags popping, there is a procedure where you drain off the stored energy. Dunno what it is off hand, perhaps someone will jump in here soon. You do know there are air side bags in the seat back bolsters.

Got it, I simply disconnected the battery for a few minutes and swapped the head rest. The air bag light is now off, I did have to pop the cover off the back of the seat to get to the connector though. The stealership wanted over $500. Thanks ColdCase!
