4wd check?

I'm about to purchase a 2011 4wd (qt1) JGC at what seems like a very good deal... With the full time system how do I confirm it is 4wd and not Rwd just being passed off as 4wd?

Look under it. If it's got a transfer case and front axles, you're good.

I'm not very mechanically inclined; can you link me to a picture of the transfer case to know what I'm looking for?

While looking at the EVIC display between the gauges, start the WK2. It will display "QuatraTrac I" or II if its a 4WD.

A 4WD vehicle will have a drive shaft going to the front axle and a front differential. These will be missing from 2WD and there will be a lot of empty space.

A transfer case is a box usually behind the transmission with two driveshafts coming out of it. One that goes back to the axle for the rear wheels and one that goes forward to the axle for the front wheels.

The shafts are what turn the axles, and the axles turn the wheels.

I suspect everything else could be faked, but if the shafts are there you should be good.

Not that I would expect someone to try and pass such a new vehicle off as a 4x4 if it's not.

I've removed four wheel drive from used vehicles and added it to others. Just to be clear, the VIN only tells you what left the factory and you could be deceived.
