I catch it with my knee occasionally. Not to hard to do when you are in a hurry.
2014 Overland Oiler, ORII, QD, Granite/Indigo Blue, rock rails, Cooper AT3's - oh yeah!! Officer, these handcuffs are tight!
Just relax, they're new. They'll stretch after you wear them a while....
The gas door on my `15 stopped working when it was just a few weeks old. Took weeks to get the parts in to fix it (had to use the emergency pull cable for over a month). I think the tech manager said it was operated by a solenoid, so if it can stop sending a signal, can it also send one when it shouldn't? Just guessing because I have never bumped mine open getting in or out in 2+ years of ownership (2 different JGCs).
Yeah, I don't think I bumped the button either (its recessed anyway, it requires a push more than a bump, IMO) or forgot to close the cap (I'm OCD in that way). I think its an intermittent fault. I'll monitor it and report.
Brand new owner (2 week) of a 2015 Overland JGC - absolutely love it so far. Noticed that the gas cap was open on two occasions - didn't hit the gas cap switch, so I know it was random.
Anyone have this happen? Thoughts on what's causing it or fixes?
Unfortunately, I could not find any TSBs that relate to your vehicle. Have you had the vehicle diagnosed at a certified FCA dealership? If you would like me to look into this further, please private message me your VIN and servicing dealer.

Interesting. So, you think someone has no idea if they bump into something? Like its impossible for me to feel my knee or whatever it is you think on my body is bumping into the button, I would not actually feel the sensation of my body making contact with an object?
Noticed it was open this morning again. 5 times in 1 month of owning. Last time, dealer said they couldn't find a code, and obviously "could not replicate problem". That's why its called random.
Question: Does closing the door clear the code? That's what I do when I see it open. Should I drive it to the dealership next time without closing the cap, so that if there's a code stored in the computer, it will show up?
