So NOW they put in a 8.4" screen...they should've filled up that gap a ling time ago...i still cant get over the new look though even if it has a 8 spd tranny with paddle shifter

Jeep will get rid of the foot operated parking brake someday? You all did read flipper glass is gone for 2014!

You may like it after seeing it in person. Or not. I'm anxious to see what peoples driving impressions are with the 8 speed tranny. I like the look myself & think overall it'll go over well. Time will tell.

Chrysler will say its for better rear visibility but the real reason is it's strictly a cost cutting move compliments of the bean counters.

I would LOVE a 8 spd tranny...but i'm not gonna loose all that money trading up. Especially not a first gen run on this new tranny

I am really jealous about the new screen...the 300 has them, dont know why they didnt throw it into the 2013s.

There's plenty of room between the screen and the HVAC controls.

Found this link with a lot of info on the VM Motori engine from Banks. Lot's of great pictures of the inside of the engine showing how overbuilt it was as this engine will be sold to the military as well.

I'd like to know if they use an EGR system that pumps oil into the front of the turbo and if they have a swirl motor controller located under a faulty hose connection that leaks oil.

not as good as imagined

It's odd, when there was first real talk of the Diesel coming, reports were of 26 MPG highway. Not sure where that came from, most likely a current Diesel market.

Now, with the diesel AND a new 8 speed tranny, what is that three additional ratios? we're supposed to get 30 MPG?

A Cayenne does more as would any of the other VAG line diesel 'utes..

Seems odd to add diesel and more ratios and yet apparently at least moved backwards in expected consumption performance.

First off mileage claims are only estimates at this time and guesses before. And if you don't know OEMs have leeway in stating their MPG. Some OEMs are conservative with ratings like on Hondas non hybrids (OTOH their hybrids are terrible and they have lawsuits for mileage claims). Some OEMs very aggressive in their mpg ratings to make PR buzz that we are better than the others - such as Hyundai with their 40 mpg claims on normal gas cars (which they are now paying for) and Ford with its overstatements on its CMax and Fusion Hybrid claims. If both gave an diesel option then the 40 mpg claims would be on the very low end as diesels kill it when not doing stop n go.
