Thread hijack alert!!

Is there an Altitude Kit available? I'm planning to buy a Limited... However, I'm smitten by the looks of the Altitude. So, wondering if an Altitude kit can be purchased to be installed on the Limited version (other trims of the Grand Cherokee)...

Not likely, but I bet you can order most of the pieces that makes it look like an Altitude for a pretty penny. Could have gotten a Limited for only a little more, but couldn't resist the distinctive look of the Altitude.

secondjeep, are you saying that you have a backup camera in a MY14 Altitude. Is this a dealer installed item as it is my understanding the back up camera is not a factory installed option on the Altitude.

We ordered a '14 Altitude, just shipped on Friday. We also really wanted a back up camera but it is obviously not a factory option. Our dealer is having an after market camera installed for us which in cooperates into the factory touch screen. They charged us $900 for the option, but the other half really wanted it.

Lack of a back up camera in a 2014 SUV is just sad.

$900 for a backup camera? Ouch! That doesn't sound right at all...

Agreed. This is standard on a lot of SUVs now. Altitude package is awesome but come on Jeep. I would have gladly paid for it as an option included.

My wife's 2012 base model GMC Terrain has a back up cam standard.

Curious if those who have gotten the backup camera installed in their '14 Altitudes can share what was installed? Are you seeing the picture on your in dash display? Also, anyone know if we can change out the lights to the LED's that you see on the higher cost trims (i.e. Overland, Summit, SRT)?

Since all these trucks are pre wired at the factory for everything, as I found out when I saved myself $795 by passing on the two package and went to autozone and bought the Curt hitch for $157 and 6pin adapter for $14. The harness is already under the bumper, stick your head under and see for yourself, I also ran into a jeep tech getting lunch when I picked up my truck and he told me the harness for the backup can is there already, have to take off inside panel, so I suggested to by the camera direct from jeep and tell them it's for a limited not altitude ,

Also the harness is in the headliner if you wanted to buy the fold down DVD player, also $995 on mopar.com

Found black tubular running boards on ebay for $113.00 free shipping,

Will post pick when I have it all installed

The wiring from the hatch to the camera is missing.

The rear brow with camera is ~700
Interesting information. When I picked mine up from the dealership, the sales person told me that the reason they didn't put the backup cams in the Altitudes was because of a "wiring issue." Not that it wouldn't work, but because it was difficult and costly, so they chose to leave it off.

In any case, I'm just looking for a workable solution that will run through the Uconnect display. I've seen a lot of vague options, but would definitely appreciate something specific. If the wiring is 3/4 there like you're saying, then it sounds like the option is there, just need the additional wiring + cam??

Anyone know if we can switch out the lights to those on the Summit, Overland or SRT?

What camera did your dealer install? ...who was your dealer?
I'd like to know what camera your dealer installed as well.
