2013 GC Overland rust already?

Hello all. I have had my 2013 GC Overland for about 4 months and I am finding rust around the center caps of the wheels already. Is this something that anyone has seen this soon? I can't believe that this is normal. Thanks in advance.

You are getting rust coming from the drivetrain components behind the wheel. This is pretty common on most vehicles. The way to eliminate it is to remove your wheel and put a thin coat of permatex anti sieze (silver/gray in color) on those rusted components. Also, a very thin coating can be applied where your aluminum wheel touches the brake rotor. Doing so will prevent the wheel from bonding to the steel rotor, also common on modern vehicles. Use the anti sieze sparingly, a little goes a long way and do not get any on the actual braking surface of the disk.

It does happen. I do all my own maintenance and when rotating my tires, there was a lot of rusting going on behind the wheel where the nut attached to the end of the axle. I wire brushed it and put rust inhibitor on it.

Before this, after a rain, there would be rust draining out from behind the center cap and all over my black 20 inch rims. You would think Jeep would do better with this area. Brand new, rust draining all over the rims.......

Same problem on my altitude. There is a snap ring that holds the center cap down and when it gets wet it rusts and leaks all over my wheels. Easy to clean, and I plan to spray paint it to stop the rusting on my next tire rotation.

I have this on my 20" Overland wheels.
Next tire rotation, I plan to spray paint the end of the unit bearing, and clean the inside under where the logo center cap is.

+1 Permatex anti-seize all four corners. I did this over a year ago when it was brand new and there is still no rust.

Apologies for not including pics on my original post. Thanks to everyone that responded so far. What a shame, must be a Chrysler thing, my 2001 Ford Mustang has painted wheels with center caps and they still look brand new.

That looks terrible !.
I just went and checked mine.
I have the same rims but no rust.
I'm also on my 2nd winter.

That rim looks kinda refurb.
You may have to get that one repainted.

I agree. That does look bad only 4 months into a new vehicle. That can't be normal. Are all 4 wheels that bad? I'd definitely discuss it with the dealer.
