2012 Jeep GC Altitude & Roof Rack

I'm a new and first time Jeep owner, a 2012 Altitude. I love it. However...
I can't seem to find a roof rack that is compatible with the flush rails on the Altitude. Anyone have better luck??
TIA

I believe those rails are cosmetic only. You probably need to add the OEM rail$ first. There was a thread awhile back discussing the issue, I'll see if I can find it. They may have ended up with a generic clamp on system.

That would really suck. I'd appreciate it if I could be directed to that thread. I did do some searches on the topic but never found anything.

I thought the flush-mount "gutter" was standard on all WK2s...?

Found a couple threads on this at other sites, linked below:

Looks like it can be done.

Turns out that the black molding strips do not have the rivnuts needed to install the OEM silver rails. You have to drill out the existing threaded inserts to install the rivnuts (and miss the airbags). A project not for the easily intimidated.

Some have had good luck with the Thule Removable Rack kit TR486056 ~$300. This product does not clamp to the rails.

Well, I had seen that first question and ended up purchasing those items only to find out that they were wrong. That second question is actually me.

I also contacted Jeep who referred me to Lambert Auto Sales. They suggested I switch out the flush rails for rails that can accommodate a racking system. Both my dealership and Chrysler Factory Plans have informed me that by doing so I will not void any of my warranty since I'd be replacing the rail with a Mopar part. Unfortunately each new rail has been priced at $135. So I could go with the Yakima Q Tower which would clamp onto the door frame, however I'm afraid of it scraping the hell out of the paint. Or I could shell out more dough and change out the rails.
Ugh, I hate these decisions.

try this company - I talked with the owner via email, he said the interest in the WK2 jeep rack was less than anticipated.
