2012 Hemi Exhaust Experiment

I have looked over and over to try and find as much as I can on what to do to get a little more respectable exhaust noise out of my WK2.
As yall have seen before with the winch install, it usually just comes down to me going in head first and obliterating everything.

This time I went much more conservative. I took it down to a very well reviewed and referred muffler shop here in Houston, Ripleys. (Thanks Jackal!)

After looking at the underside of these beasts (and the lack of usable space) I decided to do something simple and just delete the center muffler, and add an X-pipe.

Contrary to my doubts and reservations, it sounds very well!
It is very throaty and muscle-car-like at lower RPMs.
It seems like once it climbs above 3000RPM the rear resonators suppress the exhaust sound and keep it from being overpoweringly loud. (terrible use of words, my apologies)

I would post a video but I am terrible at them so again I apologize.
I hope this helps all those other people not wanting to spend $800+ for a cat-back system, or another custom system.

Thanks!

The issue has been drone when cruising the highway. How well does your mod do? Drone is the kind of thing that can irritate many while not bother others.

Currently, there is no noticeable drone. With the radio at normal levels, or with it completely off. I have a 6 hour drive tomorrow headed on vacation so I will definitely know by then.

How much did it run you with install? I've been wanting something but having a hard time dishing out the 800+.

After 300 miles one-way, half on small back roads and half on the interstate, I can say that I am beyond pleased with my decision. I drove 30, 40, and 50 through small towns in the hills, and 65 to 85 down the interstate. There was no discernable drone at speed with or without ECO on. I heard a small drone once headed up a long hill behind a tank truck at 35mph but it felt more like the fish-bite issue more than actual drone because it went away as soon as I got it to downshift. (I still don't understand why it wants to be in 5th gear so much anywhere under 45mph)

It only cost me $200 for the x-pipe install and I think it was worth every penny!
Just make sure they don't cut off the resonators too. They wanted to replace them with shiny tail pipes and I said no thank you.

I believe all the sensors are in front of the main muffler so nothing was really effected. No, no CEL in 750 miles.

Still very happy with it. It is a pleasant rumble. Still no issues or droning. Very happy.
