2012 Grand Cherokee Antenna Mast too long
I recently purchased my Grand Cherokee and the antenna mast is 8" long. Does anybody know of a smaller one that will work? The 8" hits my garage screen each time I enter or exit my garage.
I went to the dealer and all they have is the 8" model. Any 3rd party vendors out there that have a stubby one that will work?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you find something that fixes your issue.
I also find the factory antenna the ugliest part of the vehicle.
A lot of high-end manufactures build their antennas into the wind shields. I'm not sure why Chrysler didn't do this .
The antenna is listed as removable , as soon as the Sirius subscription expires I will be looking to remove this ugly antenna from my vehicle.
Um , not too sure about that Dolphin antenna either. Might look good on a 1998 Honda Civic but ...
I also notice Dominoes Pizza is using the Dolphin style antenna as the signs on the top of there pizza delivery vehicles.
Good luck!

That mast is not for Sirius, it's only for FM or AM/FM. Just unscrew it and you'll still get reception. I went with the shark fin from visual garage. It's painted to match your vehicle. It's $81 shipped but worth it.

I just cut about 4 inches off the top and then just cut the rounded tip off and stuffed it inside the larger bottom half. You have to be really looking from a close distance to tell it's been modified.

There are several stubby antennas that fit. You will loose a bit of AM/FM sensitivity. If you don't care that much about AM/FM, just unscrew and plug the hole. You will get some reception anyway.

I read that a smaller antenna (stubby/fin) doesn't affect Sirius reception quality, just AM/FM reception. I'll probably just look into a stubby one because there is no way I'm spending $80 on a shark fin antenna.

I had this same issue when I purchased my new Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2011. I had contacted the Jeep Information Center, before purchasing, to get the overall heigth from the ground to the top of antenna and was assured by them that it was 71.7 inches. Wrong! The overall height is actually 77 inches. I had to have 2 inches cut off the antenna and the end capped with a rubber cap siliconed to hold it in place. Left to it's original length it would not go into our garage without rubbing the top of the garage door opening. I posted the actual height of 77 inches on the ALLPAR.COM web-site under the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicle specifications. Just another reason to never believe what a manufacture is telling you. Contacted the company that manufactured and designed the antenna and they said they where aware of the problem, but as to date I have seen no change in design.

I was just on Visual Garage's site and went to order one but there was no selection for Jeep? What make and model did you select? Was the company in Canada?
Thanks

Here is what I did to resolve it. I went to [URL="http://www.cravenspeed.com"] and purchased this one. It works perfectly and my AM/FM still works fine. I live about 60 miles from Orlando and Jacksonville and I am receiving perfect reception.
They guarantee it will work on this model and they were right!

Jerster, send them an email and they will respond quickly to you. I love mine, no reception issues at all either.

Unless you really want a Shark Fin, I would say go with the Stubby Antenna. It costs less and works great!
