2011 Radiator (3.6L) Replacement
Anybody done this yet? Mine just started leaking...

No problems here *knocks on wood* with 35K mostly highway miles or so. How many miles do you have?

about 79k, a road warrior. No real problems other than this but it looks daunting and I am pretty good with these things...

You may want to think about the v8 radiator as it has larger capacity.

To give you a rough idea, here is the shop manual procedure:

1.Disconnect the negative battery cable at battery.

2.Drain coolant from radiator (Refer to 07 - Cooling - Standard Procedure) .

3.Remove the A/C condenser (4) (Refer to 24 - Heating and Air Conditioning/Plumbing/CONDENSER, A/C - Removal) .

4.Remove the upper radiator crossmember.

5.Disconnect the upper radiator hose.

6.Disconnect the overflow hose from radiator.

7.Remove the cooling fan assembly (Refer to 07 - Cooling/Engine/FAN, Cooling - Removal) .

8.Remove the lower radiator hose from the water pump.

9.The lower part of the radiator is equipped with two alignment dowel pins and fit into rubber grommets. These rubber grommets are pressed onto the radiator.

10.Gently lift up and remove radiator from vehicle. Be careful not to scrape the radiator fins against any other component.

11.Remove the lower radiator hose from the radiator.

Boy...that stinks that a radiator lasts what? 3 years? I just gave my wife's old car to our oldest daughter. 1998 Ford ZX2 and everything on the car including the exhaust was original except belts, brakes and tires. Seems like stuff just don't last anymore.

That's what I saw too. Was wondering I really have to remove condensor. Maybe they are bolted together??

The AC condenser is attached to the radiator by two retaining tabs near the top. You may be able to disengage the tabs and tilt the condenser forward enough to pull the radiator, but I dunno. The AC pipes may get in the way, however. The lines attached to the radiator supports with brackets and seem to wrap around the radiator. You may also have to remove the grill for access, the service manual calls that out when removing the condenser.

Hopefully someone that has actually replaced a radiator will post soon.

Just as an update for all you that may run into this one day...I ended up having to remove the fascia and grill to get to this thing. the radiator, which I will post a pic of soon, has hooks on the bottom that go under the condenser. I did not have to remove the condenser as some of those lines were just flexible enough to lift it up over those hooks once everything else was off (grill, fascia and radiator crossmember, fan, etc.). I did have to jack the car up and pull the radiator out of the bottom though. the condenser was not letting it come out any other way. I didn't have to mess with the power steering either (as my service manual suggested). it took about 6 hours but I was moving slow, thoroughly cleaning parts as they came off, etc. probably could do it in 2-3 if I ever had to do it again which hopefully I will not! I had some airlock at first but then bled it the old fashioned way (radiator cap off, just pouring more radiator fluid in) and was back in business...Thanks for all the input..

Wow -- sounds like a job. I'm glad it worked out in the end. It should have lasted much longer.

See pics below.. You can see the hooks at the bottom of the radiator which make you have to remove all the other stuff...

Good God thats a lot of work just to get the rad out. I miss the old days.
