I don't know how weatherproof it is but I do know that even if you kill it the fobik it will still allow you to start the jeep by placing the panic end of it in the switch behind the start button. That part works even if the battery is dead or removed. The RFID chip doesn't use the battery.

As long as the circuits for the RFID don't get damaged, it will keep RFIDing. I don't know what the fobic looks like on the inside, a remote for my other car has exposed circuits when opened.

Please post the cost when you find out as one of my keys has failed...enter-n-go module doesnt pick it up, keyless lock/unlock/trunk open/remote start/etc doesnt work...but, if i remove the remote start button and put it in, it will start...kinda weird.

Sounds like a dead fobik battery, try swapping the battery with your other remote to test it.

I gave up on the customer programmable key I bought on eBay. I'm returning it today. On other jeeps you can coax the car into programming mode and create a new key (providing you have two functional keys). But I can't figure out how to get the WK2 into programming mode. I guess it's irrelevant to the washing machine situation -- but maybe not. The washed key may be electrically kaput, but the transponder should be fine. It's the transponder that is needed to create a new key on the older jeeps. If only I knew how get it to program.

I read elsewhere that you cannot, take the key to the dealer, he will only charge for the programming.

Just pull the start button out and the ignition switch I'd right behind that...the button is just a cosmetic cover for the ignition. You can actually remove the button and still do push start by pressing in on just the ignition switch.

Just in case some of you did not know this, using the fobik, you can lower your front windows.
here how it works... with the doors locked and windows up, unlock using the fobk then press again on the unlock keeping depressed... the two front windows will lower and stop when you take finger off the unlock.
Cheers,
Canada1

I normally hide a key per vehicle. What options do we have now with the fob? Those things are about $140 from mopar new.
Also, does locking the door with just the hard key turn on the alarm?
