2011 Grand Cherokee with 20's on Snow

Unfortunately my dealer didn't have any Limiteds that didn't come with 20's upgrade. I actually preferred the 18s for ride quality and better snow performance.

What's been others experience with the 20's on Snow?

So far my Overland has been perfect. This weekend we got 4" and it behaved perfectly on the unplowed roads.

The only thing you need to worry about in snow is the traction system doing its job and the tires having grip. I would assume the 20"s have plenty of grip even though you don't get the same sidewall flex. If you really want the 18"s, you could buy it, drive to NY, and swap for the 18"s on my mom's.....

Or you can get the adventure package which gets trail rated and 18"s.

Mine have worked great. I am unlikely to do any rock crawling where I live and the 20" wheels are some of the best looking wheels I have ever seen. Could not pass them up.

The 20s have been fine in the snow around here. I drove it the other day in one of the recent snow storms and it grips very well, nothing really different from ZJ or WJ. I'm surprised by the smooth ride of the 20s as well, I kinda thought they were going to be somewhat rough riding because of the low profile but they're not...well maybe they are to some people but the IFS and IRS is quite a change from the other Jeeps solid axles I'm used to driving so I could have a biased response on ride quality. Typically when I drive the ZJ I'm all over the seat on bumps/curves haha, I don't mind its just more fun

It's what might be hidden by the snow which threaten the sidewalls of the tires and the rims. Rocks, holes, curbs ... all sit right below the surface of the fluffy stuff. What if your Jeep slides into the curb sideways? And if you get off in a ditch ... Then you get a really cold mess to fix.

I have never understood short, un-flexing sidewalls on 4x4s.

That's why we got the tire/rim warranty that covers hitting pot holes and denting rims.

During the storm in Atlanta a while back, my WK2 performed just as well if not better than my JK. Only issue wasI was afraid to drive it a lot in the snow and ice due to all the idiots out there sliding away out of control....
