2011 Daytime running lights... seatbelt chime

Any way to disable the daytime running lights and or the fasten seatbelt warning bell on the 2011 Grand Cherokee?

Try this for the seatbelt:
Quote:
To remove seatbelt chime
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, and fasten the drivers seatbelt.
2. Start engine, and wait for Seat Belt warning light to turn OFF.
3. Within 60 seconds of starting engine, unbuckle and then re-buckle driver's seat belt at least 3 times, ending with belt buckled.
4. Turn off the engine. A single chime will sound to signify that your life is in your own hands.

It can take several tries to get it disabled.

It worked on the previous generation Grand, it just might still work on yours. Never know till you try.

Also, your dealer might be able to hook up a StarScan tool and disable the DRLs...

I'm going to move this to the WK2 section a little later and it will be the first post there. Congrats on the purchase.

That worked, Thanks. Thought it might as I had followed this procedure on my previous car, an '06 Magnum, though I was really looking for a cure to the daytime running lights (can't turn them off). Not that I'm anti-safety (your best safety feature is located between your ears), just don't like the DTRLs, the 3rd brake-light, rear windows that don't fully roll down and seatbelt chimes.

Took delivery 4Aug on the new '11. My fifth GC. Best one yet, no question, by far. Was a little disappointed after my fourth GC and bought the Magnum. Great steering car, very roomy and very fast (4 tkts first 2yrs).

Descended Black Bear Pass into Telluride on 24Aug in an '06 Rubicon. Wow.

Guess I'm gonna need to take more drastic measures to disable the DTDLs. -00Fred

Cool man, glad to hear that worked. A DRL delete might be found as more people start tweaking their WK2s, one of the joys of being an early adopter. If you figure something out, post an update.

Congrats on the purchase.
[I'll move this to the tech section in a bit]

Just disabled my drl's today. Pop the hood. Find small fuse box top 3''x2" left side engine bay just in front of hood strut. Pop top and there are 4 square plugin blocks. Unplug the two on the right side and your done. This option is not doable in software with Starscan. Must be done as previously stated.

Awesome. Thanks darkrt!! That did it.

You have a '11 WK? Do you notice a acceleration flutter/vibration when you accelerate from a 40mph coast? Bought mine (5.7 ltr V-8) on 4Aug, noticed this that night and took it into Service the next day where the Service guy drove it and noticed this slight rumble/vibration/flutter as well. Taking it into Service 9Aug.

Thanks again. Had asked the car salesman and the service guy about disabling the drls and they both claimed ignorance.

I have the 11 5.7 and it has been flawless so far. Service tech at my dealer told me about the drl disable and did it for me no charge. He thought it was a Starscan item, but after some research discovered the procedure I described. Most dealers wont know until they research it. My man said we learned something. Keep the two plugs so you can able it again if need be.

Our new Overland had the vibration and after taking it in, the service manager said there was an update for the computer. After that it's perfectly smooth. Oh and mine has the option to shut off the daytime running lights on the headlight knob.

whipsd, my Overland got the computer upgrade as well which smoothed out the 40mph flutter, HOWEVER,... NOW...there's a rumble in the 50-55mph range when accelerating rapidly.

The dealer assured me more fixes are coming, that they're unsure whether the fix is mechanical (transfer case gears) or electronic/computer and that it will. eventually, be completely remedied.

UNBELIEVABLE. Chrysler shipped new vehicles out "unaware" of a problem I noticed in less than one hour of driving time.

I don't get the need to disable the DRL's..... If safety is truely between the ears of the driver.. then why not disable the airbags, remove the seatbelts, get rid of the traction control and stability control, and antilock brakes must go too. Who needs a horn... and toss the blinkers too because those are strictly to help others, just like DRL's

And don't give me the "bulbs are expensive crap" when driving an 18 mpg vehicle.

Amazing.. folks want safe vehicles, then ***** and complain about features that make them that way...

Maybe if you left the DRL's the way they were designed then "you" would be one less fool who drives around in the fog with no lights on.

Dunno513, I watch out for the idiots who may not notice a 2 1/2 ton nearly 6' tall and 7' wide vehicle coming right at them in the middle of the day.

DRL do not equal Fog lights.

Never caused an accident in 30 years of driving and driving the Magnum with it's horrendous blind spots made me an even safer driver.

What would destroy the thrill and majesty of driving the 550 North into Ouray or decending Black Bear Pass into Telluride?

Guardrails.

If you were to go (and I HIGHLY recommend it), I'd suggest you paint your vehicle dayglow orange, wrap yourself in bubblewrap, fill your vehicle with those styrofoam peanuts (but only up to your waist) and wear a Helmut on your head (that's a German guy, I hear they're goot at fixing things), then get out there and fearlessly enjoy what life has to offer.

After the update mine is completely smooth. I wouldn't imagine anything to be too major but as long as all is taken care of I'm not concerned. My only complaint is it's my wifes daily driver and my once new 08 Ram 4x4 seems somewhat outdated. Keep us updated if you find anything else out.

Quick question about the DRL...

Which lights are they are how bright are they?

My current vehicle (2005 Limited Toyota 4Runner) has them and they look awesome on it; but it is all black with very little chrome so the DRLs really look good on it.

Thanks.
