18 inch or 20 inch rims

What's people's opinion on the 18 inch rim on the adventure package versus the 20 inch rims that are standard on the overland? Any difference in ride, I've heard the 18's ride better?

From the discussion on other forums, if you're going to be adventurous then the 18s would be preferred. If you're 4-wheeling to the mall, then the 20s would be fine

The 20s look nicer, but the 18s are more functional. My Overland with QL and 20s rides great, and is super comfortable. I'm disappointed in the selection of tires in that size however, there are no Michelins as of yet, though I would imagine in the near future there will be.

Have you tried searching? This has been discussed multiple times.

A lot depends on the tire, not as much on the wheel size. If you are talking about OEMs, the 18s may ride a little softer but at the expense of road feel, and steering response. Dunno what you mean by ride better, however. Do you want to ride a sofa or have some control? There is not that much difference in "softness" of ride but a pretty good difference in road feel and handling. Worth the cost is subjective. The GYs that come OEM on the 20s are actually a pretty good tire once you get over the stigma that they are OEM. I haven't heard much good things about the OEM 18s, but I'm sure they are adequate.

Now 18s are much more practical for rocky and debris filled roads and seem to be easier to balance properly.

If you check threads back 6 months or so you will see a a wide diversity of opinions.

Typically the more sidewall, the better the ride will be since there is more rubber between the road and wheel. More factors involved, of course, but decent rule of thumb.

18s: better functionality, comfort, and off-road ability
20s: looks better

I upgraded to the trail-rated version for our Overland, and unfortunately, that meant getting dropped to 18s instead of 20s. I'll take the hit for when we go off-roading though. It all depends on what you want to use your WK2 for though. You can always change out the wheels like I plan to.
