People kill me complaining about the slow episodes. They have a purpose. Yes, they're boring, but they're critical to the overall plot. They're setting up for the sh$& that's going to go down later. It's like eating your vegetables. Don't worry, your icecream is on the way, just choke down a few more Brussels sprouts.
Plus, if you're looking for any degree of realism (... yeah, I know, realism in a zombie apocalypse story ), they're probably not going to be slaying entire zombie hordes every single day.
That being said, I do agree they could do a little better job of blending the slow, setup episodes with a little bit of action or suspense. The entire episode doesn't have to be slow. It is entertainment, not a documentary...
To me, even the zombie killing is a tad boring at this point. I'm sure it's just me.

It has become a little bit repetitive. But, that's actually part of the plot. You see the characters finally adapting to the world they now live in, where killing a walker is just another part of your day. That's why they're setting up the whole Governor thing. The tag line for this season: "fight the dead fear the living". They're introducing some new protagonists, this time with a pulse. The story is not just about killing zombies, it's about surviving in a post-apocalyptic world, and all that it entails. We saw the group coming to realize this in season 2, with the a-holes in the bar, and Randall.
For me, the first episode of season 3 was the worst I'd seen. Plot holes were everywhere, and the GAWD AWFUL special effects with the guns made me mad.
The makers themselves have said they make it a point to limit the zombie action. If they were killing zombies all the time you'd stop caring. When it happens they still want it to have a purpose and to be exciting.

To be fair movies and tv never really address going to the bathroom unless it's for an easy joke.
