15 years 2 months and still going strong. Proud participant of Operation Odyssey Dawn. Wish I could have done more, but you don't get to go fight very often when stationed on a training base for many years.

6 year SSgt Weapons Loader in the Air Force, was stationed at RAF Lakenheath from 2006-2009 and have been at Whiteman AFB since then. I've done one deployment in support of OEF to Bagram Afghanistan back in 2007 and have done multiple small TDY's with Lakenheaths F-15e models in support of different things. Anything but the chair force here.

I was retired in May for my hand injury. After two operations I can somewhat close my hand again. The sad part is I was on my fouth deployment and didn't even get a hang nail till I got hurt.So after 25 years I got a thanks for playing, now go home.I have been trying to deal with the V.A. now.How fun is that.
In the middle of all of everything I have been dealing with ,I have been restoring my Cj7.
Life is pain,or pain is life but Jeep makes it go away.

what hand injury did you have? I'm going through some stuff with mine and don't know what the military is gonna do about it, so any info about your situation might be helpful! thanks!

Got my hand jammed up then twisted.I tore up everything. It was one of those "If you just broke it it would be easier to fix"injuries. The problem was after I got back I had to deal with the Navy base in R.I.They don't have hand specialists. So I was farmed out. When I finally went to get my first operation it had been a year and four months since I got hurt.Which was from a Quack doctor who did't fix my injury at all.I had to wait till almost two years after my injury for my second one.It helped some.I was going to get a third, but instead the military decide to screw me and boarded me.I Didn't even know I was being boarded till I was in the office and the guy told me what was happening.I asked about where was my rep ,he said it was up to me to talk to him.
So I was retired after 25 years and got a lousy 10% rating .Now I have been dealing with the V.A. I can't stand the waiting that I have been forced to deal with.
If I were you Make sure you have a copy of your med file and any other paperwork about your injury.Fight everything you don't agree with. You have that right.Talk to your rep they are there for you.
Good Luck

thanks man! hopefully my process won't be as bad, but it has been pretty fun so far.... my hand started hurting about 5 years ago, and after every PT test i would goto the docs complaining of wrist pain, they would take an x-ray and say its fine you probably sprained it, then give me some motrin and send me on my way.... well a little over a year ago, a doc finally took an xray and said "hey your scaphoid bone is broke in half... thats been the problem the whole time" so now after a hip-graph and screw in the bone it still hasn't healed after a year... they called it a "persistant non-union"... i guess half the bone is dying and now they're talking about taking out the bone and doing some sort of fusion... well add that with my cystic acne that after 6 years of it getting worse my latest dermatoligist said its un-cureable, plus stomach problems from the 3 rounds of accutane they put me on... this med-board stuff should be a blast!!!
