If you like the Army check out the Warrant Officer Flight School. I fly Blackhawks now and they sent me right out of High School. It is an awesome carrier and tons of fun. If you would like more information feel free to pm me.

DO NOT JOIN AS A COMBAT ENGINEER! It's nothing like it sounds. Very little engineering and more combat. I had fun but Combat Engineers are some dumb mother ****ers. I got out and joined the air force and now have a cushy job talking to airplanes.

I am kinda in the same boat right now, I was going for architecture after 3 years decided it wasnt for me anymore and so I switched to Engineering but after a year of that I am just not sure anymore what I want to do. I like building stuff and would love to be a pilot. Recently the thought of joining a military service entered my mind again. Thanks guys for a lot of your responses it is making me do a lot of thinking and I have a lot more research to do.

So I took the asvab yesterday and kicked the crap out of it. I decided on the army. I should be going to meps next week. Haven't picked an MOS yet. Also little bits of imfo wondered if anyone had experience with: Recruiter said that because i have more than 96 college credit hours i can enlist and then apply to be an officer. also he vaguely mentioned an advertising program where the army paid you to put army stickers on your car. And a really big one I have PLUS loans in my parents name that I cant put into my name but i can pay on them. The recruiter told me i might be able to get the armys loan repayment plan to help with those too. Any advice on any of this would be greatly appreciated. Also mmaverick88 use this thread however you want man we both have the same end goal.

When you go to MEPS they will be able to show you the regulation that explains the college repayment program. They are some stipulations.
You can have no credits and do Green to Gold to become an Officer, if you score high enough on the ASVAB. There can be different requirements to drop your packet for OCS, depending on how many Officers the Army needs. If they will let you go Officer without a degree you will probably only be able to promote to a certain rank until you finish your degree.
Pay attention to details. If something is available it will be written in some memorandum or in some regulation, ask to see it.

So I went to MEPS yesterday. I got processed and sworn into the Army. I'll be an 11B, Infantry. I ship out for Ft. Benning at the end of January. I'm gonna freeze my butt off.

Congrats! When you graduate, sometimes they get slots to send a few to some schools before they got to their unit, like airborne, air assault, etc. If you put a bug in your drill sargents ear ahead of time, he may put you in for one if you're performing well. Good luck and take it serious, but don't take it personal.

^^^WTF? Anywho yeah the plan is to try for jumpschool after AIT. I'll probably have to stick with just infantry until the army starts paying back my loans like a year after i finish training. I'd like to apply for special forces or rangers but I have to make sure those loans get taken care of. And Zonajeep stay safe out there man, I'll be there to help you shortly.

So I've got a little bit of time to get in shape and I started by setting my benchmarks yesterday. I can do 60 push-ups in 3 minutes and I ran 1.5 miles in 10:03. During the 1.5 mile I hit the 1 mile mark at 6:27. My goal as of now is to get the push-ups up to 100, the 1.5 mile down to 9:30 and the 1 mile down to 5:30( I know its a whole minute but if was just running 1 mile i could have gone faster.) Also I might do P90x with a buddy.
