The title of this post is re enlistment. The OP is not re-enlisting. He will be considered prior service which is a completely different category, with much less consideration given to the applicant.

I did not say to leave it out if asked. If he wants to just talk to a different branch than i would leave it out until its time to be serious. Now if they straight up ask you, then obviously you tell the truth

As soon as the Recruiter (from any branch) starts to process him they will know. One of the first question he will be asked is if he is prior service.

Ya during the process part the recruiter should know prior to that though.

Most likely your bet is to go back to your original recruiter and talk to him/her about it
