Talking Newly enlisted

Hey all!

Just wanted to drop in and say hello to all the military members on here. I just enlisted in the Wyoming Army National Guard as a 12M. I ship to basic the first week of September and couldn't be more excited!

I am ready for this next chapter in our lives, and I look forward to talking with you guys more.

I was going to ask how in the heck you got 12mike. I have never seen a 12M (at least conus), Maybe you got it cause you went NG...

Welcome to the club....

Where you going for basic?

I had given up all hope of getting that MOS until one opened up in Wyoming. I wasn't sure about the commute for drill and whatnot, but decided to bite the bullet. So now I will have to drive almost 4 hours one way...oh well.
I will be at Ft. Leonard Wood for BCT and then Goodfellow AFB for AIT.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm a little nervous being 27 and all, but it will definitely be worth it!

When will you be at Fort Wood?

Shouldn't be too bad of a time of year, a little cold maybe.

That's kinda what I figured. Never had the pleasure to be up that direction before. I'm used to cold though...had two weeks straight here that were -40 when I would go to work. Didn't get above -20 all day lol. Wish I could bring the Jeep with me, though it's not like I won't be busy haha

I was at GFAB for my AIT as well, way back when. There's nothing outside of post besides a strip club, a tattoo parlor, a nasty night club and cheap hotels. and tumbleweeds.

It's still a good time. Get ready for tornados, formations, and heat.

Wow. 12M has to be one of the hardest MOSs to land. When I was with the California Guard, out of 32,000-ish Soldiers in the state, we had 6-8 firefighters.
