I would say yes, without a doubt, a sailor is a sailor, we honor the merchant marines, just as much as our own officers.....

USS Monterey
I am currently serving at MARMC as well as an FC2. I have been in for 8 1/2 years so far. I'll take the next number, what is it? I have been trying to find this thread for days. I was on CG61, so I guess that is my number? Or are we going in order and just calling it a "hull#"? I guess I should go down to supply support and get a clue and maybe even a half a roll of gigline while I'm at it. LOL USN JeepClub Hull# ???? Thanks.
For any of you misplaced Texans out there check out my Misplaced Texans Jeep Club. JW

See, even a FC2 can find it. Of course, some EW or OS probably had to read the words for you.

We could always take out all the words and put a "dim grey" hull number in our signatures. We would know what it means. 61

i like that......only a number and nothing else.......most navy people would understand, but perhaps we should use an acronym since CVN stands for Nueclear Carrier, perhaps we should come up with a JNM for jeep Navy Member...so it look like this
JNM #28

true but what pupose does an E2-C have, other than extending the range for the fighters/bombers......and what purpose would the sh-60's have without a carrier which wouldnt be needed without jets flying the bombs... we can go round and round, i understand the fact that we all need eachother to make it work....... now an RM, now thats something that can go without any of us really....

Merchant Marines ???
This is a question for the Merchant Mariner..... Were you on a USNS? I was thinking about it because we were discussing ways to identify those in the USN Jeep club without saying all that. I figure USS then #28 USS28 would be how I could identify my "Hull #" but then I wondered how you would do it. If you were on USNS then it could be "USNS...#". Just a thought.
