NO SNOW??!!

If I knew that I would have gone last weekend! Too bad I have to work this weekend, or I'd go for sure.

Just milled out a fairlead today, it's 3/4" 7075-T6 aluminum. Way overkill, but free! Winch should be here in the next few days then I can get started fabbing a bumper. Probably going to make it out of aluminum as well. I'm thinking 3/4" for the top/winch plate, and 1/4" for the front and sides. Gotta figure out a way to integrate recovery points, steering box skid and a receiver. That damn tubular crossmember is right in the way....

No, I wish I did! I have just about everything else you could ever need though. What I don't have at home I use at work, (mill, lathe etc) but no way to even bend tube there either.... unless it's hydraulic tubing. Even then calling a favor to the hyd guys is next to impossible.

So say I was able to find a bender, what do you think about doing a stinger?

If you guys know anyone selling TJ flares, a TJ single piece passenger front axle for a D30, or a AX bell housing that bolts to a 4.0 please let me know.

Check Morgan and Slates on 10th Ave. They will have the material and should be able to do the bend for you. Figure out how you want it mounted to your bumper, gussets etc and I can weld it up for ya.

Also check out jeeptubes.com they sell a bunch of pre bent stuff at decent prices.

Well I have plans for a custom bumper I just need to get my hands on a plasma cutter. I don't think they have one at the hobby shop.

I have a plasma, but for the straight cuts I can cut it at work on the shear. Much nicer cut, no clean up etc. I'm pretty sure there isn't a plasma at the hobby shop. Do they even have a welder? Come by the FRC Airframes shop and let me know your plans. We might even have some steel laying around for donation purposes....!
