Weight loss & bodybuilding supplements pulled from MCX, NEX and AAFES shelves for All Hands inclusion
Leaders, Providers, and ALCON, for your situational awareness:
DMAA or geranamine (1, 3 dimethylamylamine or methylhexaneamine (MHA)), is an
ingredient found in a number of dietary supplements promoting weight loss,
bodybuilding and performance enhancement. There have been findings that this
particular ingredient caused serious changes in individuals such as blood
pressure, headaches, lightheadedness, stroke, depression, irregular heartbeat,
dehydration, tremors and lethal exhaustion (thus far 3 soldiers and 2 marines
have collapsed during strenuous exercise and 1 death linked to product
containing DMAA). This has subsequently triggered the recall of DMAA
containing products from Military Exchanges (AAFES, NEX, MCX) by the Under
Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, with the concurrence of the
Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs). Concern - it is still
available to the public...
Attached: A list of products which contain DMAA. Right now the most popular
selling product containing this ingredient is Jack3d.
