Swore into the Army National Guard today. Enlisted as an E2 with a job as an MP. Got everything I asked for in the contract and just happy I'm done with ****ty MEPs until I leave. Ship out date is February 14th 2011 to Fort Leonardwood in Missouri. 10 weeks of basic and 9 of AIT. Pretty excited.

Good Luck, Im wanting to become a MP to. And also become a Diesel Mechanic for the Military but idk what branch i want to go into.

Thanks bud. I have 3 months and I'm already nervous/excited. I'm sure I'll do alright but theres always that ****er in the back of my head that puts bad thoughts in. It's gonna be cold as ****

It's OSUT, if I'm not mistaken. That's going to suck. You're going to run into drills walking around during your AIT. Start waking up early and running.

Running into drills walking around during AIT? From what I understand OSUT is just basic and AIT at the same spot, which is fine with me because I would have all the same DIs and no movin around really.

I have been at Fort Leonard Wood since 2006. First in uniform as an AIT instructor, now I am a Army civilian working in training for new equipment. I deal with CBRN, Chem, Bio, Rad.
It will be cold but they will issue you everything you need. Start running, if you are already running keep running.
Lay low, blend in and you will be fine.

Oh i've been running. I gotta figure out how to get my endurance though up. My legs can run but my lungs can't  I've been improving though and I have much more time to improve before I leave.
How is Fort lost in the woods anyway?

I like it. I like the outdoors and low cost of living. You probably won't get much of a chance to get away. You will probably get a few overnight passes and hit a few local clubs and Wal-Mart. There is a allot you will never get to see being a trainee.

Drill was interesting this weekend. Lots of classroom time and then the PT test the next day which I ****ed up on horribly.
I've been doing the mile (outside) for the past week and I get on the track to run the mile during PT at drill, get through the first lap and get lightheaded and my legs got weak and I had to stop. That's never happened before and I had been drinking water the whole time before the run (not too much but enough). For the rest of the day after that I was questioning whether this was the right decision then said, well it's too late now so might as well enjoy it.

Some pretty good news. I get a 5000 dollar bonus because of the job I picked. I get 2500 after AIT but I forget how it's distributed after that.
