I do have one question for you guys about BMT...

I have been reading all sorts of stories and tips for getting through it. But i was just curious about one story that was when you get into the dorms the first night they have you strip down and cover yourself with soap and stand in front of your bunk(bed). I do not mind the whole showering as a group but standing covering myself with soap would suck

Thanks,
Pat

I didn't hav to do that, but you'd better learn how to take 1-2 minute showers. Our flight got lucky by gettin a female TI. The first couple of weeks we did have a TI from our brother flight supervise us during morning and night "cleanup". If you have any other questions about BMT feel free to ask since i just graduated from BMT last November.

Hey thanks for the answer. I wonder if that could change by having a male TI though. I really can not imagine them having us do that. Just seems un-necessary, but who knows. 1-2 minute showers sound fine to me. I'll just rinse off.

I'll let you know if i come up with any more questions. I have been reading a lot about BMT. Sooo nervous about it LOL.

THANKS for the help,
Pat

Later in our BMT our TI got a lot more lenient with us. She would leave for a while and we got to take longer showers. The 1-2 min. showers is the norm no matter what gender your TI is. I wouldn't just rinse off. You are goin to be with people from all over the country. Your body is goin to be introduced to all kinds of stuff it's not used to. Our dorm chief got pneumonia in our third week. Illnesses are a big issue during BMT. I had to suffer through a mild cold. I tried to stay under the radar, but when my flight found out I was a good dorm guard I ended up being the guy they turned to when they knew a blue rope was comin to test us.

Just posting and letting all the club members know that I'm still alive and well. We still only have 7 members we need to get this number up. There has to be more people that have jeeps that were involved with the airforce.

Well now we are up to 8.

Let's start somethin new. Let's here some of your experiences with the air force. I would start it off with something but I haven't been in long enough to accumulate any experiences that stand out.

Just remembered that I did get to see two guys receive purple hearts last week. Dont get to see that too often.

The trick to the quick showers is to only wash the 4 key areas: armpits, a$$hole, crotch, and feet. No way will you have time to wash everything. And 1-2 minutes is a conservative estimate, IMO. I remember it being more like 45 secs-1 min.

AF BMT isn't that tough. The hardest thing you will have to do is fold a t-shirt into a perfect 6" square. After that, everything else is cake.

The best way to make it through, is to make many friends. Notice who is good at doing what and be willing to "buy" your way through the stuff that you can get done yourself. There was this one guy who made well over $300 just doing T shirts. Others would do boots. Just remember it's all a mind game.

In reference to the comment about the push ups; I went through in '92. The only push ups you had to do were during PT. If you f'd up on something, they made you give them this piece of paper you had to carry with you all the time. I believe it was called a "341". Just my $.02

Oh yeah, for what it's worth..........AGE Mechanic DMAFB. Have been out for almost 10 years.
