I will start with # 1. Please PM me to get a # and if you want post somethin bout an experience in the air force or post pics of some places you have visited. Thanks
The updated list can be found in the sticky at this link:
Ammo troop out of Holloman in NM. Eglin for 3, the Heath for 4 and here at Holloman for the passed 3.... and counting.
Been to the sandbox a few times as well.
Good times and 10 more to go.....
I was in the USAF and was also stationed at Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City, South Dakota
I am a total beach boy and when I got my orders to go to SOuth Dakota they said to me "Do you like to hunt? Do you like to fish?" Unfortunately I didnt do either but I did learn how to ski....lol.
SSgt here out of charleston! Look forward to seeing you guys around, Fcc on c-17s so ill keep my eyes out. Last name is Varden if you guys ever catch one of my missions on the flightline. Just hit my three year mark 3 months ago. Love it and cant wait to do atleast 17 more.
I was paid as an E-3 from the first day of basic. This was confirmed the first time they posted our pay on the wall with our social security numbers for everyone to see. I was the highest paid in the class. I had a degree when I enlisted. That was 9 years ago and a lot has changed so it could be different. I think he means he will be paid as an E-2 when he starts and will come out an Airman.
The only ones that get the pay at the end of the completion of training are those that sign for 6 and get the bump to E-3 (senior airman).
Yes if you did JROTC or signed for six you should come in as an E3 (A1C) and be paid as such but no stripes for you until the end of basic. Ask as many questions as possible before signing the dotted line. Recruiters don't lie (generally), they just sometimes vaguely answer your questions. They can't answer a question you don't ask. Be proactive and know exactly what you want to do, its your career. Best of luck and happy jeepin'.

if you are going to do air transport, forget about it, go loadmaster, you do the same job but you are the supervisor and get paid flight pay and perdiem for the same job. and you get to fly. ask me how I know. flyers get treated way better.
no offense to anyother sf, air trans guys. here but you will prob like fire fighter more if you can get a guarenteed job. SF get's the short end of the stick alot. and my wife is air trans. Fire fighter seems much higher sought after.

X2 on this. Have friends that do/did both. SF is always getting dumped on. Sucks too since they spend a crap ton of time in the sandbox or state side counting the time til they go back. Firefighters you don't hear about as much, plus you tend to go to larger bases. Don't know any air trans, yet.
As for me, I'm a simple Comm guy (3D152). We don't catch hell til something breaks.
Also if you are a 6 year enlistee, you continue through tech school as E-1 (unless you have school or anything that lets you sew on E-2 or E-3) until graduation of tech or 20 weeks of tech school whichever comes first. Then you get to sew on E-3. But your rank is backdated to the day you graduated basic. You do not receive any back pay. This is how they are writing the 6 year contracts.
sitting in freezing rain checking ID's is not fun, my SF buddies hated it and my brother was SF 3P0XX and he got out and became a sheriff. He hated it. Flying is one of things you either hate or LOVE. I recommend it to all prior enlisted that hated their last job, it shows you how good you have it after the fact of being in the regular air force. All the first term airman that are loadmasters hate it but all us retrainees really appreciate the good trips, extra pay, and general fun of the job. Just gotta be willing to deploy more often than any other AF component. Good luck with the EMR, that sounds pretty awesome.
Hello form Spangdahlem AB, Germany. Been active duty for almost 9 years now. Has anyone in here made the transition from active duty to the guard or reserves? Going to be looking for some information about that in the next few months.
Just want to add my name to the list of Air Force members on this forum. Currently active duty MSgt stationed at Ramstein, Germany. I am a Comm guy which happens to be my 3rd AFSC. I'll save that story for later. I hit 17 years this past August. Shipped my Jeep to Germany in July 2011. I was passed by literally everyone on the autobahn as I drove it home and could not have been happier. That was the only time I have been able to enjoy it so far because I deployed a week after.
