That guy's a real prick. I had an axle problem and he denied it without even looking at it. He called and left a message with a call back number. Always an answering machine, never a return call. Ford's looking better all the time lol

Ted, this will hit home....remember sitting in that Chrysler Town and Country??? Jenn and I were seriously considering updating her car with one.... Guess who will now be checking out the new 2015 Kia van...... I will be sure to let them know.

With you in Wisconsin, I don't think it is the same guy Ted and I are talking about. These are regional folks. I believe our happy guy just covers Ohio, PA, and Michigan. Maybe you will get lucky and your guy actually helps.

I really think that Chrysler has an issue with these that they don't want to admit. My guess is crappy tolerances in the front differential assembly resulting in a high percentage of them having issues. Since the same folks that would actually complain about it are also the ones that bought them to use as designed, they can usually dismiss the issue as being tire related.

well, the guy balanced the drive shaft which was "minimally off" and the rest of the vibration is "normal" as compared to another jeep on the lot....

@Peteroo... I would highly suspect the CV / Intermediate shaft that has cropped up often. Mine has new CV shafts but they never replaced the intermediate shaft. Like I told them after the CV shafts.... it seems slightly better..

But as you know, they washed their hands of the issue... so I'm on my own. I am going to spring for the intermediate shaft myself and rip everything apart myself. Like with many issues, "if you want it fixed right, do it yourself".

I am in such a conflicted state with this. I was very supportive of Falls Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep, but considering I have had to now re-seat the rear wheel sensor connector multiple times, call them out on their claim of performing an oil service while they had it but didn't, and suspect interaction with the regional service manager, I will no longer stay quiet. They will not ever see any of my $$, ever. As for Chrysler, I've just about had enough of them as well. But that is because in their arrogance, they kept replacing crap that didn't need to be. Never listening to me, the customer.

I say "conflicted" because I actually like the Jeep. Not about to give up on it. Just pissed that I have to put work and money into it to fix things that are Chrysler's responsibility. So, now to start the repair process.

hmmm...wondering if i am having the same issue or something similar as you guys. This only recently started and like you said, it generally starts for me when i hit 60mph and has nothing to do with the engine as i shifted it into neutral and the same drone/vibration was there and not the torque converter either. The weird thing too that i discovered last night while driving in the snow after a storm came through was that when i shifted it into 4 (selectrak) the drone would go away as soon as the front wheels were engaged. Shifted back to 2wd and it would come back again. same issue? different issue?

Strange.. I have Slectrac as well... mine feels like it gets a little worse when I engage 4 wheel drive...

If you can definitely rule out tires, brakes, and bearings, then I would say you need to look at the half shafts and intermediate shaft...

Since mine has done it since I got it, I can't rule out that it didn't behave like yours when it started.

Gotcha. gonna go through the run down tonight and try to figure it out. I did put new winter tires on, but if it was the tires, the sound shouldnt change with the switching between 2wheel and 4wheel drive. Got a three hour drive to denver coming up this weekend and just need to make sure it isnt going to blow up.

I knew Ted would have an answer for me. Intermediate shaft is only on the passenger side right? That would help in not having to figure out which side is the problem.

If it is the intermediate, the half shaft is probably bad too. Mine failed at the spine.

I would test it by pulling the half shafts out and give it a quick run and see if the vibration / drone goes away.

That was the test I kept asking the dealer to do, but they wouldn't. They changed my half shafts and the vibration got better, but is still there. I haven't bought the intermediate shaft yet, but plan on it. I want to do OME springs while I have stuff tore apart so have to wait for the budget....

Yea, the repair is going to have to wait until i get back from vacation. There aren't even any axles locally here right now, but maybe i will find it in Denver while i am down there after i get back.
