Who has a rear hook?

I have a 12 liberty sporty 4x4 that came with skid plates and a hook in the rear drivers area. Ive seen many libertys but the ones I see dont have the hook that mine has??

Gageraid 06-12-2013 05:40 PM

Mine didn't come with them so I added them. Dual front and single rear.

I have the front ones to. Is this something the dealer may have added?

Gageraid 06-12-2013 05:58 PM

I think it may be part of an optional package. Not 100 percent sure.

You had to order the package from the factory to get the tow hooks. Mine has them, standard on Renegade.

Two front hooks, one rear on the left side. If you got the tow package, you just get the front two hooks, no rear.

If you want the front tow hooks for a KK, you actually have to order the KJ hooks as the KK kit for some reason only comes with one. Nobody has been able to find out why.

I was just wondering . My jeep came from Nevada but I bought it in California. Maybe it was a dealer trade or something like that?

Not true. The KK has a radiator coolant line in the way on the drivers side, so chrysler decided to only specify one for the passenger side. **You can actually run one on the drivers side as well by pushing the coolant line up out of the way. Been driving with it like that for 35,000 miles and no issues whatsoever.

That's not what I meant.

I understand that there's a coolant line there. But nobody has been able to find out why the FACTORY can include 2 front hooks but the Mopar kit only has one.

THAT is the question that has yet to be answered. It's probably something simple too.

Or maybe there is no reason, and it's just Chrysler being scared of a liability issue?

Oh! I'm tracking now . . . LoL

I will have to check mine this weekend. I would like a rear one just in case.

It def helped me get someone out o a ditch with a chain.

One came on my Arctic, took it off and put the MOPAR receiver on.

Does anyone know the part number for the rear hook for the KK? My wife has a Latitude that I already added a front hook and the full factory skid package to, she wants to take it with us to Rausch Creek and run greens/whatever but she is a novice off-roader so I'd like to have a hook at each end in case I have to yank her out of something with my LJ... but finding that part number has been a pain, finding the KJ is easy, is it the same one? Or do I just get the hitch and throw a shackle adapter in it?

_benjammin 07-06-2013 07:39 AM

I'd get the hitch, can't help ya with the hook part#.

Ted15 07-06-2013 11:27 AM

X's 2
Get the mopar hitch if you plan to take it off road, all of the aftermarket ones sit about 3" lower, maybe more.
