was going to take my factory side rails off tonight but I realized the rusted bolts/nuts are SAE and I only have metric wrenches here. I have both sets of sockets though. I need to figure out why there is also rust coming out from underneath the step pads on the passenger side one. Also thinking that taking them off will make the jeep look a little taller, but I'll probably put them back on once I get my kayak.
Today: New battery, the old one was down to 300 CCA, and the lights would dim every time the factory woofer would kick. New 680 CCA solved that.
Yesterday: Full service incl. Diff oils. Also ordered Wolo 419, hopefully louder than the stock squeaker.
Next week: Replace power window switch Mrs leaned a little to heavily on...
Throw vehicle registration in the mix (due this week) and that's around $2k gone total. Oh well, I'll get a lift eventually...
No guesses? Wow this board was dead today lol. Either way, I'm now the proud owner of RL's sliders!
Gotta paint and mount them now
You're gonna love those sliders. Bit of advice, coat them with POR 15 before you paint them. I can't seem to keep mine from rusting from all of the brine they use on the roads around here. The RustOleum black hammertone works better than the duplicolor I used the first time. If I ever have to take them to bare metal again the first coat will be POR 15.
Is there an install thread on this? Do you mind taking pictures along the way? I want to see how difficult it is to install these.
I don't think so. I didn't get any instructions or anything either. They're pretty straight forward though. put them in place, measure etc, mark where you have to drill, drop them down. Then drill the holes and bolt them up. They're heavy though. The 2 weigh 95lbs(as marked on the package).
