Wash 2010 3.7L engine?

I tow my Liberty Renegade behind a motothome; 12,000 mi towed, 2700mi driven since Aug 1. The engine is covered with a film of dust that I'm sure would wash away with a good hosing down with the garden hose. I think most of this dust is the result of dust from having been towed.

Years ago I cleaned a 1985 Pontiac 6000 4cyl engine with Gunk and rinsed with water. This caused damage to an under hood sensor that left my wife with a dead engine in the middle of a busy intersection. She would kill me if I hosed the Jeep engine with water and caused any problems.

How sensitive is the 3.7L to a washdown?

I've used Black Magic cleaner/shine on mine about 3 times, about twice on my patriot and once on my friends JK. All still running strong

I use an air gun with 20 psi of clean dry comrpressed air and blow it clean.
but if you are using any liquid I would place a plastic bag over the ECU, TPS and alternator vents.
