U Connect

Does anyone else have U-Connect in their Jeeps? It is the program that allows you to sync your phone contacts to the radio and talk through the speakers.

I was just curious how you like it and is it useful. Also, what was the cost to set that up? Thanks!

I think it is standard in the limiteds, but the 11 Sport I am looking at says that I need to contact the dealer for installation or something like that.

I called the dealership and they said it would probably be $400 for purchase and install. I found it here for a decent price I would guess. http://www.justforjeeps.com/cesyuchafr.html

I installed one of these kits in my 2008 Sport. I needed to go to a dealer and pay for a 1/2 hour service to get the starscan programmed to know it was there

It looks pretty easy to install but my radio already has a button for the Uconnect. Therefore the kit I listed before probably wouldnt help me. Anyone have any input? Talked to the dealership again and I don't want to pay $400-$500 for this if I can find the kit on my own. They said labor costs are only about $100.

you are correct. to order from that site you want to use the pull down and select the part number 82211878.
this is the kit to connect to the RES radio that has the uconnect button. I ordered the part off http://www.dodgepartsstore.com since I found they had the lowest shipped cost. the part there said it was for a grand caravan, probably equivalent wire length.

82212159 is the part number they told me was the one they had to order. Just letting you guys know. They said it costs $350. I will look around and see what I can find. I will check out the other one as well. Thanks for the input!

Does anyone know the difference between Uconnect part number 82211878 and 82212159? Is it just because they are technically made for different vehicle? The difference in price is about $150. Thanks guys!

I had the same question since I have heard both numbers work for the new Rams. I asked one of my buddies in the radio group at Chrysler, they said the 82212159 is the kit that I needed for an 11, they said the CAN bus is different for 2011 so it requires a different kit. They said the 2159 kit is exclusive for 11 and work work for 10 or older.

Thats the case for a Ram, not sure if its the same for a Jeep

I have Uconnect factory installed on my 2011 Liberty. So far, I have found the hands free aspect to be great. The synching phone contacts is a lesson in frustration. I have yet to be able to download my HTC phone's contacts and when I have added them manually (also very frustrating) they are rarely voice recognized. I always resort to saying "Dial" then the actual number. Still working on it though.
