Turn key and nothing happens

Hi everyone wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what you did to fix it. Car driving fine park on a decline. Come back to car insert key and for half a second looks like car is going to turn on but nothing happens. Try again and car is completely dead nothing works. I mean nothing, no lights, radio, window, key fob does unluck doors DEAD!! Completely dead like if all the electricity has been sucked out. Googled problem and said it could be blown IOD fuse so i pulled it to match it with one at the auto parts store. Guy at Auto Zone said it wasn't blown and tested it as well it worked fine.

Any ideas, anything would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

OK I am just butting in here from the KJ section.....The KJs are having a lot of problems lately with the actuator pin at the ignition switch.

The ignition switch attaches to the end of an actuator which is plastic or metal and which rotates when you turn the key...the tab at the end of the actuator breaks off....dealers will only sell the KJ complete steering assembly but this actuator can be bought for a few dollars.

Have a look at the KJ section or remove the covers around your steering wheel and have a look at how the ignition switch attaches to the actuator...if it is broken you can start the jeep by placing ignition key in the key barrel and turning the ignition switch with a small flat screwdriver.

Check the obvious.

Battery is good?
Did you pull the right unit that was checked?

Electrical gremlins are fun to figure out.
