Transmission and Acceleration Question

When on the highway, if I press hard on the gas peddle the RPM jumps immediately, but I do not feel the transmission downshifting or feel any acceleration. If anything it feels like the transmission is slipping. If I gently push the gas peddle, the transmission downshifts and I accelerate like I should.

Seeing the Tach spin towards 5k is alarming, especially without any increase in speed or rate of acceleration.

Anyone familiar with this or now what may be the cause ?

Thanks,

Ross

You have the same KK I have with almost same mileage, but dont have your problem, but there are several TSBs for this tranny.I had 2 TSBs done on mine 1 for shudder,1 for shifting problem, and right now its doing good. There are updates to reflash the TCM,so I would suggest telling your dealer about your problem and see if a reflash would help.

i have a 4x4 2008 libby and i have the same problem as you do, i have all the tranny/torque converters TSBs applied and the problem is still there. it sure sounds like a software problem so i just deal with it. it happens only when i gun the pedal whilel driving 20-30 mph for me

Update. Took the KK in for a bumper to bumper checkout, with specific instructions to apply all outstanding TSB. I did tell the dealer about the problems I experienced and made sure they understood what I was describing.

When I picked up the KK, the tech explained that he applied 2 TSB (without specifying which TSB), other than that he could not find any problem.

The problem is gone, so whatever was done was effective. The truck now accelerates cleanly and quickly while on the road.

KK is now with my child at college....about 300 miles away.

Thanks all !

BTW- this is our 3rd Jeep....previous 2 were a 1994 Cherokee (sold in 2004), and a 2000 Cherokee which we still have and will keep for our younger child who will need a car in about 18 mos. Has 135k miles on it and running strong.

Glad to hear all is well now. If possible try and found out which TSB was done. It might be on your service order
