Thought on 15" wheels.....

What are everyone's thought on switching to 15" rims? What are the pro's and con's. what would be the largest tire I could go with them with the OME or Tomudd's Econo 3 1/2" lift?

Anyone already done it and have pics?

Why do you want to go with a 15"? I know that for the most part a 15" rim won't work because of the brakes. I have the stock 16" and the brakes fill up good amount of room behind the wheels. I was plannig on going with 18's since theyere were free but looks like my GF's car will be getting them.

There have been some posts about it. Don't recall which ones exactly off the top of my head.

Honestly. Mostly for the beefier look I would think it would give.

I can understand the favored look of all that extra rubber sidewall profile in your face stance. But, I had been told the same thing, it's all in the clearance of the brakes.

Most of the Krager wheels will clear the brakes.

With the right backspacing I know some steel 15s fit. It's EXTREMELY close to the caliper though, like bend the rim even slightly and it hits. Most just choose not to risk it and stick to 16s.

Yea. I appreciate all the feed back. Think the general consensus is to scrap the 15's idea. Lol. I'll stick with the stocks

Smart thinking.

Another thing to consider too, is that most offroad vehicle makers (Jeep, Toyota, Land Rover, etc.) switched to 16" or larger rims for most of thier vehicles within the last decade. As such the selection for 15in size offroad tires has been slowly drying up. There is actually more selection in 16" size tires now than 15". You can see the market trend as companies like Treadwright are starting to give up making 15" size retreads. They simply can't find the carcasses anymore.

there is a guy on here from new york that has black 15" wheels (look like nascar rims) and his jeep looks really pissed off! The 2 most important things are the offset and the location of the reinforcing ring in the rim. If the 2 match up they will fit with no issues.
